Tommy's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Jersey City

When I first moved here (11 years ago) the service and food were EXCELLENT. I’m not the type of customer who complains and throws hissy fits when things go wrong and I hate writing reviews especially bad ones. This place seemed to recently go downhill and I am not sure why. Maybe because the cook and staff are getting older but I’ve been given attitudes in the past when asking a question about an order they messed up on, had a waitersss pick up the mouth part of my fork when dropped, served runny eggs and repeatedly tell them how I want my sandwich only for them to still get it wrong. I had stopped coming there for a long time and started to go to WonderBagel (Which has horrible food) and then came around recently this year when I started having my pregnancy cravings for corned beef hash. Well today I will PERMANENTLY stop going there because this morning I found a HUGE piece of cooked plastic in my corned beef hash when I came home to eat it. Mind you I am 5 months pregnant. I have eaten at Tommy's many times in the past. The food has always been decent if not exactly inspired. Well, currently my husband and I, along with 100 neighbors, have been displaced and are living in a hotel. And finding decent food has been quite a challenge. So yesterday we decided to travel to Tommy's because we thought it would be reliable. I ordered the easiest breakfast possible, bacon and soft scrambled eggs on a roll. I don't know if the cook was having a bad day or what, but when my breakfast arrived the roll had been over-toasted, almost burned, and was squashed like someone had stomped on it. And, the eggs were fried not scrambled, so I sent it back. It came back with pale and flat eggs, didn't look scrambled, and I now realize must have been egg whites! No taste, now the sandwich looks even worse, and it had cheese which I did not order. I ate it and paid the price with indigestion all day. Truly a disappointing and inexcusable experience. And btw, isn't the waitress supposed to make sure the order's right before...

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I asked for a sunny side up bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. What I received was literal translucent substance that’s completely not cooked in my egg. I went back and explained that although he thinks it’s sunny side up, the whites are supposed to be completely cooked. He gave me the sand which back the same exact way. I’m pregnant and thank God I looked at the sand which again because it was completely undercooked to the point where the translucent jelly was all over my sand which. This is completely UNACCEPTABLE especially such a disgusting service from the owner, not the female workers. I paid nearly $11 for a sand which I could by at a store for better. Never had this type of experience and I ALWAYS buy these types of breakfast sandwiches. They gave me back my money, but I realized the bacon was also undercooked.
