I am sadly reporting that this restaurant is committing fraud by steeling from the customers. I visited the establishment today -lunch time, I was accompanied by 2 of my colleagues from work. We work less than 5 minutes from the restaurant at a financial institution, the service was not pleasant and the orders were served incorrectly. We know things happens and we understand. What we are not in agreement is steeling from customers and it doesn't matter the amount. Steeling is steeling and is penalized and prohibited my law. I got the plate with a $11.95 price with no drink. My final receipt showed plate cost $12.37 plus taxes 1.02% totaling $ 13.39. when I questioned the waitress she stated that they have a new system and that's how the amounts are charged. I asked to speak with a manager and the manager didn't have an answer either. She asked for a monet, looking all confused to the receipt not knowing what to say. Tours the end she stated that the $12.37 included taxes and that's why I was paying that amount. When I questioned the $1.02% taxes, she stated that's the fee for using the debit card. Not only they didn't have an explanation of why the amounts charged where different from the menu but also they couldn't explain why we all 3 were charge the same amount of $12.37 when we ordered different plates. It is clear that they are over charging the customers and I am assuming customers are not paying attention. I work for a well known financial institution and math is the main factor we use daily and it is unethical what the restaurant staff is doing. Imagine someone who is consuming alcohol and not in the right mind to verify a consumption of alcohol, how much this place is charging them. Or tables with large amount of people, how much they are over charging them. Like I told the manager and the waitress, that what they doing is 1st illegal, 2. They are steeling and 3. They are commiting fraud. And again doesn't matter the amount steeling is steeling and there is not excuse for it. We will report the restaurant to the correct departments, food chain dpt for audit purposes. We are very disappointed and we will never visit this...
Read moreReally wanted to like El Oceano. The last place that was there did a great job remodeling, and El Oceano improved upon it, so was encouraged when we came in. Nice bar area. Several TVs with cumbia music playing, perhaps a futbol game, etc. We were promptly greeted and seated, and a tostada with a warm seafood sauce was brought to the tables, all agreed it was good. No chips, no salsa - not even available, don't ask. Water was never brought to the table, except when I specifically requested it, and then only 1 for 4 guests. The waitress did not speak any English at all. Fortunately, 3 of us speak Spanish, but it seems Venezuelan (?) Spanish and Mexican Spanish have some differences, and we had some difficulty with what she understood we wanted (two native Spanish speakers and current Mexican citizens). We had fried fish and shrimp plate with fries - they are those coated fries, not fresh cut. My daughter had filete a la diabla, it was good. Wife had camarones en mojo de ajo - also good. My wife and I each had the caldo de mariscos - I had a large, she had a small. $5 difference in price. Same size bowl. The caldo appeared to have frozen shrimp, pulpo and pescado in it as well as fresh vegetables; it lacked flavor, but was okay. The ensalada is cucumbers and a tomato slice with some tajin on it. I don't know if I would call it a salad, but it was good and fresh.
Unfortunately, for the price, (plan on $15-20/plate), the value just isn't there. The waitress was reasonably attentive, but just not great.
Also, can I suggest you add better photos to the menu AND descriptions in English. By not having anything in English, you are not welcoming about half the population of the area. I wish them well, and hope that they...
Read moreIf your a seafood lover and know what good authentic seafood taste like, this is not the place for you and I would not recommend it.
We ordered Filete Océano (chipotle spicy sauce dish) and Filete a la Veracruzana (bay leave w/ green olives and tomato sauce) dishes. The sauce for each dishes is completely flooded over the filete drowning it completely and causing the filete to loose its texture completely and becoming very soggy. The rice was a bit undercooked and did not have much flavor and the cucumber salad was ok.
At the end the only thing we liked was the shrimp boil appetizer and the bottled beers we ordered.
Food and drinks were completely over priced for what we actually received in return.
Upon receiving the bill it $92 and som change, but we were not provided with an itemized bill that showered what we were being charged for.
Which disappointed us even more and left us not wanting to go...
