My family and I have been going to Mamacita’s since the 1980’s when they originally opened. I was celebrating my 40th birthday recently and because of all the memories with family at the original location and my parents living in Cypress I chose the 290 location to celebrate my 40th birthday. My dad made a reservation and paid for more than 20 of us to have dinner. To say that I wish I had asked my dad to make another plan is in understatement.
We weren’t welcomed, or said goodbye to by the host, the server didn’t care to check on a single guest. We ordered chips and queso and one bowl was brought for a group of around 22 people. Asking for boxes for the 20 lbs of leftover food that had been paid for was somehow a surprise to the servers. Then they didn’t even have the proper boxes and tools to make our catering order boxed. They also boxed up our fajitas without any toppings. So I took home meet and tortillas only. Thanks?
I feel it’s important to note that not only have I been a loyal customer for over 30 years, not only has my entire family repeatedly chosen to designate this restaurant as our family’s choice of restaurant when we meet, but just as important to note is that I have now been working full time in restaurants and bars for nearly a decade. I more than understand how to do each and every single thing that I’m complaining about not being addressed, in fact, they are and should be standard procedure. They certainly are at any restaurant I’ve worked at.
I was too embarrassed to even bring these issues up until now. I looked for a corporate email even so as not to embarrass anyone. Didn’t find one. So here we are and all I can say to you as a potential customer is that I would not recommend spending your hard earned money here. They don’t seem to respect it. I for one, will never spend money or send anyone...
Read moreUpdated review 3-2024. Mgmt changed 2 to 3 years ago and so did the food, and not for the better. After a few times of eating there after new mgmt, I quit going. I went there last night and asked for a booth as usual. Now, the left side of the restaurant was empty and since there was plenty of seating on the right side, I can see why they were not seating people there. There is a group of 4 large booths in the middle back and those were all open. We walked to the back right and seeing no booths on the right side available, the guy seating us said "I can't seat you." I was shocked that he uttered those words. My friend and I were about to leave and while deciding, two parties got seated. I decided to sit in the back right so we headed that way. I look over to those booths in the middle back and two now had people sitting in them. I'm still thinking about the guy saying "I can't seat you" and seconds later they seat people in those booths. About the food, the chips were crappy store bought chips and not even the thin, restaurant style store bought. The green sauce wasn't too spicy to eat like it was when new mgmt took over. The spinach enchiladas were smaller than they used to be. The cheese enchilada wasn't as good as it was years ago.
Make up your own mind if you want to eat here or find something better.
Old review: Love this place and the food and margaritas! I recommend the Cozumel dinner. Been eating here for many years. The managers and staff are friendly and service is quick. They can accommodate large groups and...
Read moreVisited 10/22/22 between 7p-10p The absolute worst experience ever with this place. My family and I use to dine here all the time before the pandemic shutdown. With my mom’s birthday coming up we decided that this was a great place to celebrate it since she loves the food and drinks here. Unfortunately the service isn’t the same across the board . One particular waiter name ALBERTO became very aggressive with people at out table because he messed up everyone’s ticket by not keeping track of who ordered what. Yes I know a simple mistake can me made with your dealing with big party, however, the way he handle simple request to correct tickets was uncalled for. He should have the basic understanding and training to know if you can’t handle something at work then either ask for help, or maybe the table shouldn’t be given to someone who isn’t properly trained to handle big party tables. Also for him to become upset because I request contact info and his name to make an complaint is beyond me. Lastly to the gentleman who was with Alberto at the bar when I was inquiring about a price for a specific shot and thought it was appropriate to make an inappropriate joke (which I believe is apart of management because he didn’t have all black on) you sir need to be retrained as well! Thanks for the better service before Mamacita’s. Just very unsure where y’all dropped the ball since then. Never returning to this...
