Disappointing Valentine’s Dinner at Sugo...
My husband and I had high expectations for our Valentine’s Day dinner at Sugo, especially with their advertised $59 three-course prix fixe menu. Unfortunately, the experience last night was a major disappointment, both in terms of food and service.
First, the pricing of the prix fixe menu felt completely unreasonable compared to their regular menu. The first course was crab cakes—two tiny, deep-fried, overly greasy balls. Based on their regular menu pricing, they seemed to be worth around $10-$14 at most. The second course was supposed to be lamb chops, but instead, I was served a lamb shank. Not only was this misleading, but the dish itself was disappointing. It was served in a cheap-looking IKEA-style bowl, and the lamb tasted dry and pre-made rather than freshly prepared. On their regular menu, a lamb dish is priced at $30. Lastly, the tiramisu dessert was a letdown. It was a small, thin slice, with an overpowering amount of cream that took away from the authentic tiramisu flavor. On their menu, a tiramisu is $10.
When I added up the regular prices of the dishes, the total came to about $50-$54—meaning the prix fixe menu wasn’t a value but rather an upcharge for no reason. I could have ordered the same meal separately and saved money.
The service also left much to be desired. When the server brought me hot water, she failed to mention that the kettle was extremely hot. I accidentally burned my hand and had to use ice from my husband’s water to cool it down. Throughout the meal, she repeatedly took away my plates before I was finished without asking. However, towards the end of our dinner, an elegant woman—who seemed to be the owner or manager—finally checked on us. She was the only saving grace of the night, ensuring I was finished before clearing my dishes and even refilling my hot water kettle while placing a plate underneath to prevent direct contact with the heat. Her small gestures were appreciated, and she’s the reason I’m giving this place two stars instead of zero.
Overall, I would not recommend Sugo based on this experience. The food was overpriced and underwhelming, and the service (aside from the manager) was inattentive. I understand menu prices fluctuate, but this felt like a...
Read moreWent to Sugo for my first time last night to celebrate my partner and I’s one year anniversary, and we were beyond impressed and pleased with everything from the food, drinks, service, and atmosphere.
The atmosphere pulled me in from the start. Cozy seating areas separated by floor to ceiling curtains and romantic lighting. The evening began with the host setting a Happy Anniversary card, signed by all of the staff, on our table. This was unexpected and meant so much to us!!
We ordered the Arancini appetizer, Beet salad, and for entres I got the shrimp scampi while my partner got the cannelloni. Everything was delicious. We wanted to get a 2nd order of Arancini it was so good! And the pistachos on the beet salad really make it unique and flavorful. I loved the spicy fettuccini with the shrimp scampi, a twist I haven’t experienced before. I ordered a Classic White Negroni as my drink (apparently unpopular, but I loved it! Very bitter), and my partner got a drink called Rum to Rome, which he loved.
Our server, Austin, was so nice! Attentive, helpful, and felt like talking to a friend.
We had other dessert plans, but they still brought out a beautiful platter and house-made limoncello, which Austin said takes 24 hours to make! Amazing tart flavor.
The prices really weren’t bad at all! Very reasonable, and they had $14 pasta Tuesday specials if we had wanted a more casual meal. I would say the only minor downside was the lack of privacy. The tables are set a bit close together and we had a party beside us for our entire meal. But it was fine, we could still focus on our own conversation without issue.
We were all around so pleased and will definitely be back!...

The first time I visited Sugo was also my first event as a Yelp Elite. I’m so glad that they picked Sugo for a “Girls Night” event because this place is absolutely beautiful! We were placed on a separate room from the dining room, and the dim lights and candles gave it a romantic touch.
We tried different stuff from the menu including their Meatballs Al Sugo (totally recommended) some different flatbreads, bacon wrapped dates and their delicious arancini.
The second time I visited I went for the Hanger Steak and it was amazing!
Sugo is perfect for date night, or an special occasion, their kinda pricey but totally worth it!
