come on people... have some culinary/flavor standards. maybe its bad on me for expecting good Thai from a sushi/chinese/thai place.. but quite frankly the Thai food here is just horrible. As I said in my review about the Pearl, I travel globally frequently and have lived in 7 different US states and have experience some of the best international foods. we just moved to this area and are looking for great quality, authentic cuisines. This is not one of them. I know Thai food because I have spent much of my travel time in thailand. This is really really really bad Thai food. First, the dish they pass off as Massaman chicken... just because you throw some coconut milk into the pan does not make good curry. it takes time to cook in the chilis, the fish sauce, the tamarind, the peanut sauce, etc. Curry's should be have many layers of flavor and should be thick and rich. this was none of that. it didn't have any flavor. no peppers, no seasoning. it was watery and thin. the chicken they used were strips of chicken like what I assume they use in their Chinese dishes. Chicken in currys, including massaman, are supposed to be big chunks of chicken, tender in the middle so you can cut a piece, drench it in thick curry sauce and grab some rice. not so here... Second, we ordered Rainbow chicken. Whatever we got was not that. It was kind of like Hunan-style chicken dish but the sauce was different than that and different than rainbow chicken sauce... i was just oddly non-descript. there were no red pepper flakes in the Rainbow chicken sauce. It had zero flavor. no fresh herbs. If you want real Thai food, go to MaLi in Va-Hi. this isn't an advertisement for that location and i have no affiliation other than having been there and having worked with people in Thailand that know the people there.. but if you really want to be able to compare real Thai vs this.. at least you will then know why this is so bad... on a positive note, and the only reason this place even go one star, was the basil shrimp rolls. they were quite good. 4 full shrimp in each one and the basil really stood out. other than that, this place should be avoided...

This review is entirely based on food quality. I do have professional cooking background. As i decided what exactly i wanted to try first i couldnt help but notice that the sushi was crammed into a tiny box. Each sushi stacked side to side with a garnish as a seperator. But i disregarded that and looked forward to a flavor packed experience. As i took my first bite of the nagiri, it became obvious that it was lacking a certain essence youd usually enjoy with this type of sushi: soy. The rice however was quite delicious. It had all the characteristics of top shelf sushi. It just was missing that brush stroke of magic youd expect from quality sushi. 2.2/5.0

I moved onto the second option of sushi i ordered: the spicy tuna roll. This stuna roll however was not spicy. Nor was it on par with other tuna rolls youd find in the area. The rice also seemed a bit dry. And not as sticky like youd expect from sushi rice. When you put both together, the symphony of flavors was off tune. It too lacked development. In comparison its a 3.75/5

Lastly the spicy salmon roll: this roll was decent. Only because the rice was the same as the tuna. The salmon filling was delicious. The filling was above average. Quite creamy. 4.0/5.0 the rice did not do it justice.

Then the fried rice, really expected a bit more passion and effort put into it. It was plain brown rice, and egg. Technique or flavor was not part of this plate. Id put money on it and say the rice was left out in the open.

Over all my score based on food quality: 3.32/5.0

Id suggest you try tokyo boat for a step above sushi sumo 4.25/5.0. Try maki sushi in alpharetta, better priced, better quality, sushi that will make...
