Opa! Are you from Greece and missing it? Did you visit once, only to fall in love with this beautiful place and its warm people? Have you always dreamed of going and wading in the beautiful bright turquoise waters, soaking in the history, and eating all the gyros, spanakopita, feta, and pita in sight? (Greece would definitely be my Eat portion of any Eat, Pray, Love moment in my life!) No matter the level of your love affair for this delicious, warm, beautiful country. The newly opened Santorini Greek Restaurant (3005 Old Alabama Rd Suite 100, Johns Creek, GA 30022) is a MUST! Everything is authentically Greek, including the beer and wine. Each delectable bite you take has been made fresh in house, down to the salad dressing. The owners, a couple of friends from Greece, are so kind and welcoming – just wait until you meet them! The staff is as warm as the pita bread they bring you, plus they keep a straight face when I am butchering the Greek names on the menus. I’ve seriously just pointed at the menu, with a friendly chuckle of “You get the say that one!”. I highly recommend you do that for Saganaki! (Insert squeals of excitement here!) It’s flaming cheese. Yes, you read that correctly ooey, gooey, melty, hot flaming cheese. You’re welcome! The ambiance of this place - OPA! No detail was missed, not even the ceiling, you step inside and between the beauty of the marble, art & decor on the walls, the music, and scintillating smells of the spices, warm pita, or the sizzle of the gyro meat on the rotisserie, your scenes are immediately transported to the beautiful Isle of Santorini. With every indulgent bite your taste buds will dance the Sirtaki of delight! Honestly, this place is so darn good – I ate there 3 times, ok that’s a bit of a fib… it was actually – 5, yup FIVE times(!) in their first week of being open. It’s me, hi, I’m addicted to Santorini Greek Restaurant -- don’t judge! It happens to literally be across the street from my work, so they now recognize me by voice when I call in my takeout order…. Yup, it’s me, hi, I’m addicted to Santorini Greek Restaurant. Plus, didn’t you hear? Greek food is one of healthiest cuisines in the world. I mean, come on! Delicious and good for you! How can you go wrong!?!?! So, you can be as indulgent as you want. Go ahead, and be like me, when I’ve run out of pita and no one’s looking (I’m worse than a 5year old) I’m scrapping that plate of every last morsal or creamy hummus (aka Revithosalta), Melitzanosalata (see point, “You get to say that one!” – it’s like baba ganoush), or Tzatziki. Oy vey my mouth is salivating – I guess it’s lunch time! Shhh… don’t tell my husband, sometimes I’ll have lunch from Santorini’s and it’s so good I’ll be “craving” it, so we have dinner that same night too! Everyone I have introduced to this gem has agreed, BEST Greek food they have had since visiting Greece, or ever. Do yourself, your taste buds, your friend, your family, your neighbor, anyone, and everyone you know a favor and...
Read moreFirst time here. Clean and welcoming place. We chose to sit on the patio. Had the Gyro platter. With two sides..the salad and Greek potatoes. The meat was dry. Our waitress was quick to bring another serving that was much better. My wife had the Gigante bean stew, which was very tasty, but she wished the portion was a bit larger. She also had the Greek salad and it was very good. The service started poorly, but once we were finally waited on, we had good service and the food arrived promptly. As it turned out, they were short staffed and were having some issues with the computer system. The manager came around after the meal, listened carefully to our opinions, and apologized. I think they are suffering from post COVID staffing that seems to be lingering. Will definitely give them another shot. Would have given a three star review but felt they went out of their way to take ownership of the problems. And the baklava may have been the best I have...
Read moreFirst, the food is just SO good!! Owned and operated by a guy who owned a Greek restaurant IN Greece, the food is very authentic AND all of it is good. I've tried SO many dishes here that I wasn't a fan of before, but HERE they were delicious! Favorites? The octopus for starters and the lamb chops for the entree. They offer a selection of Greek wines to round out the meal.
The service? Otis (the owner) manages to find the nicest, most attentive people to wait on you. I think all of them are from the "old country," so that adds to the atmosphere, which is also excellent! You will hear "Opa" several times as the staff lights a popular cheese appetizer on FIRE! Lots of art work, walk decorations and TVs with Greek isle scenes looping continually help bring the experience to life.
Really, really love this place and I've been a dozen times or more since they opened. I have brought some of my biggest food-snob friends here and Santorini's never...
