Red Dog Saloon: Where History and Fun Collide with the Legendary Duck Fart Shot

Our visit to the Red Dog Saloon was an absolute blast, filled with history, good vibes, and of course, the legendary Duck Fart shot that originated right here.

Stepping into the Red Dog Saloon is like stepping back in time to the heyday of the Gold Rush era. The saloon is filled with rustic charm, with sawdust-covered floors, vintage décor, and a lively atmosphere that immediately transports you to another time.

But it's not just the historic ambiance that makes the Red Dog Saloon special – it's also the sense of fun and camaraderie that fills the air. The friendly staff and patrons create a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home, whether you're a local or just passing through.

Of course, no visit to the Red Dog Saloon would be complete without trying the famous Duck Fart shot. Legend has it that this delicious concoction – a mix of whiskey, Baileys Irish Cream, and Kahlua – was invented right here at the Red Dog, and it's become a beloved tradition for visitors and locals alike.

As we raised our glasses and toasted to good times and great memories, we couldn't help but feel a sense of appreciation for the history and heritage of this iconic establishment. Whether you're a history buff, a cocktail connoisseur, or simply looking for a fun and memorable night out, the Red Dog Saloon is a must-visit destination in Juneau.

In conclusion, our experience at the Red Dog Saloon was nothing short of fantastic. From the historic ambiance to the legendary Duck Fart shot, every aspect of our visit was filled with fun, laughter, and good times. Whether you're exploring Juneau for the first time or returning for another adventure, be sure to stop by the Red Dog Saloon – you won't be...

Atmosphere – 5 Stars Stepping into the Red Dog Saloon is like walking into the Old West. The place oozes character—sawdust on the floor, historical memorabilia everywhere, and a two-level layout with tables both downstairs and on a balcony overlooking the bar. There’s a lively energy throughout, complete with live entertainment from a piano player and singer that gives the place an authentic saloon feel.

Service – 5 Stars The staff was dressed in period costumes, adding to the immersive, frontier-style experience. Our server was friendly, quick, and attentive—service couldn’t have been better.

Food – 4 Stars The food was delicious and memorable. I had the McKinney Pork Sandwich, which came topped with coleslaw and provolone cheese on a toasted bun—easily one of the best pork barbecue sandwiches I’ve had. It was flavorful, perfectly balanced, and came with a bag of chips. We also tried the clam chowder, which was rich, hearty, and filled with chunky pieces of fish. Another highlight was the Nunivak Reindeer Sandwich, served on a toasted baguette with grilled onions and provolone cheese—a savory, hearty option that looked and tasted like a gourmet kielbasa sandwich.

Overall The Red Dog Saloon is an experience as much as it is a meal. Between the historic atmosphere, engaging entertainment, standout service, and flavorful food, we had a fantastic time. Definitely a must-visit...

Fantastic Drinks, Great Service, and Fun Vibes at Red Dog Saloon!

While exploring Juneau, my daughter and I stopped by the iconic Red Dog Saloon for some drinks, and we had such a great time! Even though we didn’t order food, the experience was still top-notch. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a lively, friendly atmosphere that made it clear this was a must-visit spot in town.

The bar had a rustic, Old West vibe with quirky decor and a welcoming crowd. The drinks were fantastic—well-made, strong, and reasonably priced. I ordered a local craft beer, which was ice-cold and refreshing after a long day, while my daughter had a soft drink. The bartenders were friendly, quick, and made us feel like regulars, even though it was our first time there.

Live music was playing, adding to the fun, upbeat atmosphere. The performer was talented and really engaged the crowd, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. It was a perfect spot to relax, unwind, and soak in some local charm. The crowd was a mix of tourists and locals, all having a great time, which added to the lively vibe.

If you’re in Juneau and looking for a place with great drinks, fantastic service, and fun live music, Red Dog Saloon is the spot. We didn’t get a chance to try the food, but based on the energy and the excellent service, we’ll definitely be back for both food and drinks next time...

Amazing. Beautiful to see GOD'S creation. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” 7 So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day. 9 And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good. 11 Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.
