We were genuinely excited when Ebisu finally opened in the old Nitrogen space. Our family had loved Nitrogen, and after the owner’s passing and its closing, we were hopeful that another Asian/Japanese-inspired concept could bring new energy to that location.
After months of anticipation, we visited as a family to check it out. The restaurant is fast-casual—no hostess or waitstaff. You seat yourself and scan a QR code at the table to view the menu and place your order. Unfortunately, the internet in the area is terrible, which really slows down the process. The Wi-Fi password is posted at the bar, but without anyone actively offering assistance, it was a challenge for first-time guests.
The menu is small but well-curated, featuring ramen, fried rice, and sizzling plates, with a few appetizers. Most options are “build-your-own”, allowing you to personalize your dish with added proteins and vegetables—each at an extra cost. While the base prices seem affordable, the bill adds up quickly. Our order—one ramen, one plain fried rice, one wagyu sizzling plate, and two sake—came out to $130. At that price, I couldn’t help but think a steak at Lewis’ across the street might offer better value.
That said, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially when we needed assistance with the Wi-Fi or had questions about customizing our dishes.
Ebisu is still in its soft opening phase, and they’re clearly working through some kinks. As a neighborhood restaurant, I love the concept and the energy it brings—but at this price point, I’m not sure it will become a regular stop...
Read moreI got the tonkotsu ramen. The chicken katsu. The katsu sandwich. the karage chicken. And a small side of udon noodles
The karage was a little dry but flavorful.
The katsu sandwich was decent but the bread was falling apart
The regular katsu was alright but still below something like l&l quality for more money
The tonkotsu broth was ok but tasted like it was cut with chicken broth and the noodles were good but the price was ridiculous. The ramen alone was $15 then to add chashu pork or chicken was an extra $5. I GOT A SINGLE PIECE OF CHASHU PORN FOR $5 IN A $20 RAMEN BOWL. The bowl wasn't even that big. The ramen egg was pretty disappointing, overcooked and not much flavor
Even some of the best ramen restaurants don't charge that much for a single bowl of ramen. Ex.jinya ramen bar charges $18 for their tonkotsu ramen that comes with at least 2 pieces of protein for no extra charge. And is a larger portion than the one from ebisu
All that came to $70 before tip
The fries with the sandwich were by far the best part of the meal. Crispy and well seasoned.
Overall decent food for...
Read moreWe had the worst dinner experience at Ebisu. Very unfortunate because we dined there a few times and it was good. This time it was chaotic, very long wait for our dishes to come out And awful attitude and unprofessional service from the waiter. Our food came out at different times and the waiter forgot my husbands drink order, even after asking for it twice. I ordered another roll (white tuna) and waited another 30 minutes for it until the waiter announced that they were out of this fish... (why didn't he tell me this sooner). I ordered a roll which I knew they had, and waited another 25 minutes before getting so frustrated that I simply got up and left the restaurant, vowing never to Come back. My husband paid the bill and asked our waiter to get the owner or manager to which the waiter replied that he's the manager (which we don't believe bc he was so unprofessional). My advice is: don't go to this place. Aside from The outdated decor, the unhygienic and downright filthy place, we also had very rude and disrespectful service. We will...
