OK, saw the advertising for Hungry Howie's Pizza and since Friday is our normal pizza lunch day, decided to try them. Normally we're a Papa John's fan so that's what I'll be comparing it to. We ordered the large thin crust with the works along with the bread sticks. Compared to Papa John's, Howie's had a lot more "stuff" on the pizza, which was good ... let's give them an A- compared to Papa's B-. Oh but the crust! Papa's crust is... well crusty, was not soggy like the Howie's crust. very disappointed! Checked the bottom and it was browned so I'm assuming it must be the ingredients. The pizza was pulled out of the oven just as I arrived, 10 min early, so I know it was not because it sat for a while. Any pizza experts out there? Why would the crust be soggy just coming out of the oven? Anyway, the breadsticks --- very good compared to PJ. A+. We'll probably give HH another try next week to see if this week's pizza was not normal. We'll report next week. Not recommended. Follow up from above review ... As posted in above review, we again tried the Works with thin crust on our Friday Pizza day and this time .... big surprize! Since I ordered online, the order was in-process when I arrived 5 minutes prior to the order time. I overheard the store manager say "this is the guy with the soggy crust review" ... that's worth 5 stars right there as I was impressed that they are concerned with the customer's opinions. But beyond that, the manager came our and talked with me about a little test he wanted to try - since the pizza is loaded with ingredients, the thought was the crust was absorbing the moisture from the toppings - which was proven to be true. They tested the theory by making a second pizza with less ingredients and let me try that as compared to the original pizza. The second pizza's crust was indeed crispier. So, in leu of the additional effort expended, I'm willing to raise the original rating 1 star to a 4 ... still not as crisp a crust as I'd like, but def. not a 3. My compliments to the manager and staff of Hungry Howie's Pizza for customer service up and beyond the call...
Read moreI'm a tad particular when it comes to pizza, as I've had my fair share of bad experiences with bad 'za. However, when I do find a place with amazing pizza? I always make a point to make return trips.
Hungry Howie's is a place I've only found since moving here, and I have to say it's quickly become my favorite place to get pizza. There's always some good deals, especially when ordering through the app. And they have a variety of menu options at that!
With a variety of quality ingredients, a plethora of crust flavors, bombing pizza, and a love for the work they do? Hungry Howie's has my absolute recommendation. I'm absolutely addicted to their deep dishes, as they're very filling. And their cheese-stuffed howie bread is absolutely amazing with some pizza sauce!
If you're looking for a change from the usual pizza places you hit, I can't recommend...
Read moreOrdered using website and it said delivery would be 40 mins. 1.5 hours later we didn't receive pizza. Called and waited 25 mins to get a person. Once we did get someone they said that the pizza had yet to be picked up by delivery driver. I wish we could have experienced the 5 star service others have noted in their comments. Disappointed and hoping Howie will correct this poor experience to ensure website provides correct information and that they are staffed properly (if that was indeed the issue).
UPDATE: Pizza was delivered (2.5 hours later) and was provided for free. Delivery driver was polite, apologetic, and genuinely nice. Still unsure what caused...
