Sabor Latin Street Grill - Kannapolis — Restaurant in Kannapolis

UPDATE: Since my last review, we have been to Sabor many times. The food has been consistently good! My guess is they were having a bad day back in October.

My husband and I have enjoyed every meal at Sabor Kannapolis until our most recent visit on Sunday, October 23 around 1:45 pm. We took someone who had never eaten at a Sabor which makes this experience worse. Here are the issues we encountered on this visit: *We all ordered a bowl. The food came out in clear plastic salad bowls lined with a piece of paper. These are not the type bowls we usually get and they are never lined with paper. We questioned the type bowls and paper. We were told these bowls were for cold salads and the paper kept the hot food from melting the plastic. They said they were out of the appropriate bowls.

*I had the grilled chicken on my bowl which is always very good. The chicken at this visit was tough, overcooked and somewhat charred. I did take it back to the counter. They were kind enough to remake the bowl with better prepared chicken. I was told sometimes the ends of the chicken become charred.

*Our guest ordered pineapple and jalapeño on his bowl. Someone from the kitchen came out and said these items had not been prepped.However, they must have found the pineapple and jalapeños because they were on his bowl when delivered to the table.

On a previous visit, we recently found out we had been paying an upcharge for “greens” even though the menu board shows greens as one of the choices that are free add ons. As of October 23, the menu board still shows “greens” as being a free add on. Actually, lettuce not greens is the free add on. This has not been corrected on the menu board at the Kannapolis location.

On a positive note, the employees are welcoming and friendly. The young man cleaning tables was doing a thorough job! He was right on cleaning the tables as diners left. This is not always the case at other...

I was in the area again with the family and decided to try this place out for lunch. I had much higher expectations, but was very disappointed to say the least.

Just FYI, this is a casual fast food place. It's not a traditional sit down place. However, they do sell cocktails and beer here. So if you're looking for a traditional full experience please don't come here, unless you want a quick bite to eat.

Let me get into why I gave this place a low 2 star rating. The main two reasons were customer service and cold food.

Upon entering and deciding what to order we were not greeted at all. The individual behind the counter was a bit on the uppity side, and so were the rest of her team. It was almost like they were reluctant serve the customers walking in. This is certainly an area of opportunity for this restaurant to improve on.

The next main reason was receiving cold food. My wife and I ordered the "arepa" stuffed with cheese and shredded chicken, and for the little one my wife ordered a ground beef taco. Fortunately, my wife was not served cold food. However, my son and I were not so fortunate because our food came to us literally cold. This was very upsetting and disappointing. To be fair, I will say that the overall quality of the food itself was very good and tasty. I would say that this is another critical area to improve upon.

Overall, the place has good potential and unique vibe. However, I will not be returning any time soon. For those who are still curious, go try the food here, just know it might be...

No greeting upon arrival which is ok not tripping. Walked up to register and guy just stood there. No can I take your order just standing there. I asked for nachos ordered them for dine in. They are soggy if you get them to go so I make sure to go when I have time to dine in. Wednesday is my day off so I went. The guy brought me my food to go in a box. I thought maybe cause they close at 8 and it was 8:30. But no there were ppl that ordered behind me that had there food brought to their table for dine in. I take my calories serious and my nachos were already soggy. I immediately went back to register and inquired why was my food put in a to go container. He look at me with blank stare asked for Manager. The guy then goes on to say I asked for them to go. I don’t go to this place unless I eat there. So the Manager come out I tell him what happened he does not care . No empathy nothing . Everyone is silent as if me as a customer don’t matter. I’m calm not rude or anything. I asked for refund and they never refunded the money after he said he would. I normally don’t do reviews put I’m tired of mistreatment depending on what area in Kannapolis I go. Racism is still alive and I will not be giving these ppl my money anymore. Food not that great anymore don’t know who the new cook is but not like...
