Really enjoy this stadium. Grew up going to the old Piedmont Boll Weevils/Kannapolis Intimidators games and was a little leery of the new stadium since there were hundreds of great family memories with my late mom connected with the old one, and also I have a soft spot for older/historical stadiums in general. However, I was not disappointed by this one and have yet to have had a bad experience here. We have been to numerous games and apart from the small canopy/lack of shade for most of the stadium (which still is more than the old stadium, though. That's the one thing we never liked about the old one, the complete lack of shade), it's affordable and fun to go to games here. You have to get there ridiculously early (like, 2 hours before the gate opens) for giveaways, but they have a loyal fan base, fun onfield entertainment, beautiful charity nights, awesome fireworks shows, and parking isn't super expensive. Seats are a lot more affordable than some other Low-A/Single-A stadiums I've been to. There is a lot of family fun - they have a really unique play area which doubles as high-up "prime seats" for the kids during fireworks shows. They also have a splash pad and water hoses on certain days. The games are fun and the food is good and while pricey not as bad as most stadiums, though I will say the food was better when they first opened (they now use regular nacho cheese sauce but the first year or two they used proper white queso, for instance). They run a lot of fun promotions and alter-identity nights as well, including bringing back old mascots. It's sad they can't use the INtimidator name anymore because of copyright reasons beyond their control, but they will sometimes bring back the Intimidators' mascots, and have nights where they rebrand as the older name, the Boll Weevils. We live in Stanly county but we're still Kannapolis fans no matter what the name. I stadium hop (visit other stadiums in the summer for fun, periodically), but Kannapolis and Charlotte will always be my "home...
Read moreMy family loves to go to the ballpark to walk around and get some exercise and fresh air. The concession stand food is really good. Prices are not outrageous, like other sports venues tend to be, especially considering the generous portions. Around the perimeter of the park, there is something for people of all ages... a splash pad, a playground (I'll circle back to the playground), a bar, an area with picnic tables as well as an area with tables and chairs, and PLENTY of room to walk, run, or ride a bike on non-game days. The playground, though. That's my only complaint. Not sure who designed it, but I'm fairly certain it was not a parent of young children. It's essentially a jungle gym made of ropes. And that would be cool in one section of the playground, but not the whole thing. There are two slides, but to get on them, kids have to climb/ navigate the ropes. We've only attempted the smaller of the two slides, but even I, as an agile adult, had a hard time getting up there. My 2- year old and 4- year old love to slide, but we have to use workarounds to get them on it. Either I have to climb through the ropes first and then have my husband lift my kids up to me, OR my husband and another tall person have to get on either side and walk my kids up the slide so they can come back down. And the crazy thing is there's a sign posted on that side of the playground stating that that section is intended for kids in the 2-5 age range. Every parent I've talked to while we were there has also commented that this playground is not at all appropriate for their small children. I've actually seen a kiddo - probably 3 or 4 years old - lose her footing and fall from the top. Fortunately her dad was there and caught her before she got the ground, but she got some pretty rough rope burns from it. All that to say we love the ballpark, but don't recommend the playground at all. Now we're anxiously awaiting game days so we can have the...
Read moreWhat can I say other than what an Awesome experience my family & I had last night at the Cannon Ballers baseball game in Kannapolis NC. We were invited to go to the game by my boss who is a sponsor of the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers and we happily accepted. We got to the stadium and the place is absolutely beautiful clean and neat! The grounds were well kept it was easily accessible and the workers were amazingly friendly and cheerful. All the employees were happy and smiling and that just made the experience better than we could have ever imagined!
