When I first pulled up and looked at the building, I knew I was in for a treat. I walked in the outdoor area and was told to go left inside of the door to the bar. As soon as I opened the door, I noticed all of the owl decorations. Very rustic inside but very very impressive. The bartender was more than helpful and had a few laughs together. I had a wheat beer on tap, and I ordered a smash burger with only adding grilled jalapeños to the burger. I had the option of regular fries or Parmesan fries so, of course, why not choose Parmesan? I found myself amazed with all of the different decoration from everything to look at on the ceiling to how the bar top was constructed out of wood and concrete countertop, as my food got there, of course I had to take a picture and then dive in. When I say, this is the best burger that I’ve ever had, it’s not just the dispensary down the street hyping it up. The most amazing crispy Parmesan fries I’ve ever had. The burger was hands-down, the best burger. The bun was toasted to perfection. I even found myself not wanting to use ketchup to take away from the originality of the fries and no they didn’t pay me to write this. Five on atmosphere, five on food, five on service and five more altogether just because I am so wowed!! Plus full. MUST TRY

We were searching for a brewery with a good lunch menu as we were on our way to downtown KC hotel and happy to have found this gem, leaving us only a few minutes drive away from the hotel in Power and Light District. Husband had Smashburger and said it deliciously hit the spot (maybe a little too cheesy for his preference bit he wasn't complaining). I had the Turkey Club which was perfectly toasted/grilled sourdough with tasty deep red tomatoes. Heavy mayo could be lightened up. Both served with hand cut fries (other brewery menus i saw lacked fries, opting for kettle chips as side). The beer is very good also!! Biscuit lives up to the reviews...I didn't know i liked English Pub style Extra Bitter Special style (and tasted another one I liked at Rochester). Husband had the Brown Ale and Emperial IPA, both of which are very nicely brewed. The server was very attentive. The atmosphere of the taproom is like an old antique shop of oddities in a way. Comfortable with lovely wood plank table tops. Plenty of outdoor patio and play area. Great little KC brewery we would frequent if we were local. Our kind of hangout.

Went in for a beer and they sat me in this table under a leaky roof facing a wall. Facing the center of the beer garden would have meant getting rained on. Then the bar code didn't register in my phone for the menu. I had to Google it. The waitress was nice enough to walk me through the process. Then the menu had a beer and hard cider club you joined to get special prices but then hard cider wasn't included in it, it was sure to note. I couldn't find hard cider on the menu readily, after it had caught my eye as part of this deal that it was excluded from??? Then it started raining on me as I sat loner that I am sadly facing the wall unable to find my hard cider or even pay a one-time fee to get it for $6 a glass! I had more fun sitting in my car in the alley surrounded by the beautiful street art which reminded me of Bogota!

Updated review dropping from a 5 star to a 2(barely). I am only giving them a 2 star because I think they have good beer. The food and service quality has taken a nose dive and is less than 1 star.

They use some weird app to order food and drinks. If you are getting drinks the app is probably better than crowding the bar. But for food it means you get less service than fast food. Our experience tonight was horrible and they need to ditch the app ordering for food.

Got seated at 630 and had our order in at 645 through the app. Got our drinks in a reasonable time but was not offered any water or anything else. It is drop drinks and run. At 710 started seeing tables around us getting thier food even though they came in 10+ minutes after us. 720 still no fso my wife looks at the app to see if there is an expected ETA. The hamburger I ordered is not on the order for some reason. Some random service person walking by here's his talking about the missing hamburger and says it's probably that they had to remove your hamburger from the order because they couldn't do a double hamburger. He then started telling us how slammed the kit3is and they only have 3 people in the kitchen. He says he can put in a new order for me to get a single hamburger so I don't have to struggle through figuring out the app. (The app now doesn't even show the burger I ordered as an option.) he puts in the new order for my burger and as he is leaving says "the other food will come out first". I am thinking since it has now been 45 minutes siwe ordered it might be an extra 5 minutes for my burger since they canceled my order without telling me or refunding the money...... NOPE! My wife's food came out and then my burger and Brussel sprouts took and additional 45 minutes! That is 1.5 hours after I first order food that it as delivered.

In the 2 hours we were there we had only two people stop to check on us, one of the female waitresses askif we needed anything and we asked for water (which almost every other table had) the second was the guy (maybe the manager) who overheard me trying to figure out why my burger suddenly disappeared from the order 30 minutes af3it was placed and paid. This is why the app ordering system doesn't wfor the food. If the kitchen is backed up 45 minutes then the customer should know that. Not left to guess what I'd happening when some tabare getting food and you are being ignored.

The burger was supposed to be a smashburger with grilled onions. It was on the quality level and size of a McDonald's Cheeseburger with onions. So I paid 10 times as much and waited 1.5 hours for a subpar meal.

2 hours after leaving and about 30 minutes after posting this updated review we were refunded $30+ of our $70+ bill including my burger and a few beers. I'll give them one extra star (now 3 stars) for doing the right thing even though it could have been resolved in 30 seconds by the guy just putting my burger order in expedited. Or by one of the servers stopping at our table and telling us the kitchen was backed up and may take some time to get our food.

I now see the response from the owner and want you to know I will likely not eat here again or recommend my friends and out of town visitors eat here. I might return for a beer if there is a decent band or some other reason. But until you get rid the stupid ordering app and go back to traditional quality service I will choose a business which takes care of...

Where to start? The excellence of the beer at Brewery Emperial is to be expected, considering the passion behind the formulation of each offering. The weather is still cool so I chose the Porter for it's heft and my husband had the Pilsner- both were exceptional.

We started our dinner with the fried pickles. They were a delight. So much so, I had to ask where they came from- these were so flavorful and had a marvelously rare snap to them. The owner informed us that they were made right there in the b*E kitchen by their chef, using his Nebraskan mother's own recipe. Wowsers!

We usually get their burgers (among the best in the city) but decided to do something different this time, and we were glad we did. My pulled pork sandwich was generous, delicious, and the slaw topping it was perfect. My husband's fish and chips were quite good as well.

I couldn't end this review without a sincere thanks to the brewery for taking pandemic protocols seriously. Because they do, tonight we were able to invite a lot of friends and neighbors to safely join us in their beer garden, and we were comfortably able to do this thanks to their many fire pits.

Thanks again, Julie, Keith and your wonderful team for making tonight so special...
