My review is solely based on service. I ordered from Providence Pizza. An hour had passed and still no notification that it was ready for pickup. So I call them and provide my order number and they say 2 minutes. I figured if I timed it just so, I could maximize my 30 minute lunch break. I arrive at the Parlor. Proceed to Providence, there is a guy at the counter, I presume a customer so I wait patiently. About 3 minutes pass, the guy turns around and moves out of the way. Seems that he and the 2 workers were just standing around conversing. There is a pizza just out on the counter as 2 flies are plotting their landing I'm certain, and all I can think is that I hope that isn't my order just sitting out, unboxed and uncovered. I proceed to tell the guy my order number and name. He goes to a screen looks at the other guy who then joins him at said screen and they began to chat nervously. Guy #1 says, someone must have grabbed it, I will just make another, it will take just 15- 20 minutes. I am beyond livid!! The lack of customer service blew my mind. Hadnt tried it but had heard great things, but I won't be back! Such a cavalier attitude about the situation and respect for my time and money is a deal breaker! #hungryandouttatime Part 2** I received a gift card in the mail and went back to experience Parlor. The concept is really cool. I tried almost all of the vendors except for Providence Pizza, as I was still feeling a way about my previous experience there. The chicken sandwich was on point! The fried peach cobbler dessert served with vanilla ice cream from the mac and cheese spot made my heart happy. The bowl from the salad spot was fresh and flavorful , drinks were tasty and the service at all of the different vendors was fast and friendly, a stark difference from my 1st experience. The crowd was mixed with folks just hanging out and some work meetings happening. I would...
Read moreI had the pleasure of planning my husband's surprise 40th birthday party at Parlor on March 7 '24. We had approximately 70 guests in their basement (The Cellar), including young children, adults, and seniors. From beginning to end, every communication with Parlor's team was a delight. I started coordinating with Izzy Vivas in September '23; it is unfortunate that she is no longer with Parlor - she was great!! Luckily for me, my event was handed over to Justin Pamatmat in January - Justin is also great!! On the day of the event, everyone at Parlor was friendly, relaxed, and helpful. I was able to enjoy myself in planning this event because the team is wonderful to work with!
Apart from the team, Parlor itself is an excellent venue. The Cellar was perfect for our event; spacious, fun, and vibrant. I received many compliments on finding the space- and I wouldn't be surprised if Parlor gets more business in private events from this. I'm sure that's the norm, though :)
I should mention that there WAS one big hiccup at Parlor on the day of our event: the main level with all of its kitchens was closed due to a problem with the water heater. Crazily, that did not at all negatively impact our enjoyment! Parlor was so accommodating to us- they remained open with a portable water heated that they dedicated entirely to our event and permitted outside food to feed our guests. I heard many say that they would have to come back to try some of the food (as will I!) :) The guests who have eaten at Parlor before paid compliments, so the food must be good!
Thank you all SO MUCH! My husband had a wonderful birthday party, and I enjoyed it from...

The Peddler of Good Food: Pedaling Flavor with Purpose The Parlor | Kansas City
At The Parlor—where kitchens unite and cultures collide—
we found a fresh trail: The Peddler of Good Food, led by Todd Barlow, a chef who blends cycling spirit with culinary art.
Dishes that spoke: • The Frittata — well-crafted, flavorful, crowned with spring mix and tender asparagus.
• The Veggie Panini — fresh, vibrant, and light on the stomach but heavy on satisfaction.
Even with a bread change due to popular demand, the flavor still rolled strong.
If I could dream a little: A touch of Todd’s pickled red onions from the panini would’ve made the frittata next level.
(Not his model, but hey—just a Suggestion.)
Environment: Relaxed. Comfortable.
Great seating, Lakers vs. Timberwolves on the big screen, and the right kind of atmosphere to savor a meal before catching a flight back to Dallas.
Ratings: • Food: 8.5/10 (fresh, thoughtful, flavorful) • Atmosphere: 9/10 (creative and chill) • Service: 8.5/10 (felt like family) • Creativity: 9/10 (unique concept tying cycling to cuisine)
Final word: The Peddler has momentum. The Parlor is the perfect avenue for it to thrive.
Already excited to see what’s new when we roll back through KC for Memorial Weekend.
