Cosmo Burger XR just opened in the Crossroads and it’s already a KC favorite for me! The space has a fun retro diner vibe with a modern twist—perfect for a night out or a late-night bite. We kicked things off with drinks: the pickle margarita (way better than it sounds—refreshing and tangy!) and the prickly pear seltzer (light and crisp). The burgers are the star—juicy smash patties with crispy edges, melty cheese, grilled onions, and their signature burger sauce. I added lettuce, tomato, and pickles, while my friend went classic with a double and fries. Both fries and tots were perfectly crispy. Love that they also have vegan options! We finished with the Elvis Shake (peanut butter, banana, chocolate, and bacon). I skipped the bacon but it was still so rich and delicious. Friendly staff, creative drinks, and seriously good burgers—Cosmo Burger XR is a must-try in the Crossroads!

If you're looking for the best smash burger in Kansas City, you've found it. Cosmo Burger is a five-star experience from start to finish. Their menu is intentionally simple - just one incredible burger offered as a single, double, or triple, and your choice of perfectly crispy fries or tater tots. This focus allows them to achieve true burger perfection. I went with the triple smash cheeseburger {no sauce, add mayo and lettuce} and a side of tots, and every single bite was outstanding. The patties have that perfect crispy edge, the cheese is melty and gooey, and the toppings are just right. The tots were golden brown and perfectly seasoned. Despite the basic menu, the quality of ingredients shines through. The vibe is casual and cool, making it a great spot for a fantastic, no-fuss meal. If you appreciate a truly exceptional smash burger done right, head to Cosmo Burger!

My wife and I went to Cosmo Burger for lunch yesterday, and we were really disappointed. The bartender was also the hostess and our server, which made everything move very slowly. It took quite a while just to get our drinks, which were okay at best. When our food finally came, it was marginal — nothing special — and the service was below average. What really stood out was how expensive everything was. There was an extra charge for just about everything, even lettuce and tomato on our burgers. We ordered two double cheeseburgers, and the total came to $44. For just a few dollars more, we could’ve gone somewhere much nicer and had a quality steak dinner with great service. Unfortunately, this experience wasn’t worth the price, and we won’t be going back.

One of the top three burger places around now.

I just made my second trip to Cosmo burger XR and wanted to add a second review. My first time around mid July I didn't have their sauce and luved it.

I went again on 08/09 and added extras like a fried egg and they suggested to keep the sauce on it. I wish i hadn't, for one the fried egg was on it but they put the burger upside down and it looked like someone slapped the burger down and it broke the egg which kinda ruined the experience of biting into it, however that hardly mattered as the sauce they used was overpowering and I could not taste the anything like the extra cheese i had on it. At first i was wondering if the sauce had jalapenos but was later told it was horse radish. I'm sorry but that sauce really doesn't do the burger any favors and I suggest anyone to order a burger without the sauce. It really overwhelmed anything else u could taste from that burger

Maybe a note in the menu that the sauce is using horseradish would be in order so patrons can be informed

Went on sunday 08/17 at 11am. Ordered the Burger without the sauve. Was way better, definitely thought this isone of the top three amash burger...

We were not greeted by staff whatsoever, just stared at as we seated ourselves at the bar and immediately could tell the energy was off by the two bartenders (gentlemen had a Mohawk and piercings) Staff gave off the vibe that they didn’t want to be there - no smiles, no hellos, no nothing.. It was 8PM and we confirmed that they didn’t close until 11PM - however they were closing everything down.

They enjoyed talking to one another but didn’t speak to any of the customers that were there to dine and patronize.

As someone who works in the service industry, to me, this is a total turnoff. It says a lot about your business. Your staff sets the tone of your establishment. The tone this gave was very negative and unwelcoming.

We ordered the double with jalapeño jam, a few cocktails and a cookie. The burger was fine (would have been better without the jam). The cookie was good, nothing spectacular. Cocktails were mid.

Most likely...

I love Cosmo Burger. I frequent the Waldo location, so I was excited to try out the new location in the Crossroads. My spouse and I stopped in around 2:25 pm and sat at the bar; we just left and got back into our car at 2:45. No one spoke to us outside of handing us menus and water. They were busy, but with the number of people working behind the bar (4), I would’ve expected them to be able to manage the amount of guests. There were several open tables and bar seats. It seems like the system they have for milkshakes is a time and energy suck for the staff; there were three people trying to deal with the backed up tickets for shakes. There was no bar flow or communication between staff.

I understand being busy and backed up, but twenty minutes is a long time to not say anything at all. I was disappointed in my experience, but I will continue to patron the Waldo location as I have had nothing but great...
