Today I received a flyer from New China Star restaurant in my mailbox; then I decided to try it out for the first time. Unfortunately it was a disappointing experience; firstly it took them like 1 hour and a half to delivery my order; secondly, I ordered Chicken with Mixed Veggies(plate #: R2) and Chicken with Garlic Sauce(plate #:R6) so these two Dinner Combination Plates are supposed to be served with fried rice and spring roll, crab rangoon, instead of fried rice I got white rice and I didn't even receive the spring roll. As you can see in one of the photos, there is more veggies than chicken, it should then be called Mixed veggies with chicken and skin. Thirdly , the cover page of the flyer says: Free 1 order Crab Rangoon Purchase over $28.00 Excluding Delivery Charge, so I didn't receive that promotion item either, as my bill was like $30. I forgot to say that, at least, the appetizer I ordered was fine: HouseTray for 2. I called back to the restaurant and the guy who answered the phone said they were going to be more careful next time, he didn' t even try to fix the mistake; honestly my friend and I were so hungry after the big delay of the meal delivery that we ate some of what we got. Read moreI'm losing hope in finding a good Chinese restaurant in the Northland. Let's start with the food. I got their General Tso' chicken and Sweet & Sour chicken to go. I upgraded one to the dinner combo which came with a crab rangoon that was okay, and a spring roll that I honestly don't remember (I guess it wasn't that memorable). I really didn't care for the flavors of either dish, but more so on the sweet & sour chicken. Both tasted better cold the next day and for that reason I considered giving them 3 stars, but I would never see myself buying their food just to put it in the fridge for later. I will say that the quality of the chicken was fine which was nice to see. They should just convert the restaurant to a to-go or delivery place. Not sure why a ladder was in the dinning area, but if not being used, put it away. To the left of the counter is a sad fish tank that is not doing it's job of hiding all of the stuff beneath it that is being used as storage. I also wasn't sure why there was a tray of fried chicken wings on the dinning table next to the fish tank. Is the chef going to finish preparing this protein at a booth? It sat there the entire time I walked in, looked over the menu, ordered my food, and finally left...
Read moreI ordered the Country style tofu. It was hot and delicious!! So good that I was already planning to go back there, but when I hot to the bottom of my box I saw that there was a lid( to another container) in my food. I was devastated!!! I couldn't finish the food. I called the restaurant to let them know that I found a lid in my food. The woman that answered the phone said that she didn't know why it was in there and she went and got the manager. The manager was confused also and said that he had to peak with the workers in the kitchen. When he came back to the phone he told me that the lid was in there so that the box wouldn't break. I was completely disgusted!!! I told him that if that was the case they should've let me know prior to eating my food. No one wants a surprise like that in their food. It was gross. And I was disappointed because the food was so good. If they had just admitted that they had made a mistake and apologized I would've been fine. I might have even dated to go back. They offered no apology, no replacement,and no refund. I will not patronize this business again. Also I will post a picture of my food...
