Da Crack is Da Bomb! My husband actually said it’s the best Mexican restaurant food he has ever had (their Mexican rice tasted just like his mom’s!).

Food was amazing, portions are large, service was prompt & efficient, & prices were reasonable. There is no seating, it’s a walk-up & take your food to-go style of eatery. But I would rather grab my food & get back to the beach anyway, I am in Hawaii after all😄

We visited Da Crack about 7:30 on a Friday night. There was a line of about 20 people when we first arrived so we were a little concerned about getting our order in by closing at 8pm .

Our concern was, however, unwarranted. The team taking & filling orders was running like a well-oiled machine. We (& the 20 people in front of us) all had our food in our hands by 7:50.

One of the guys working behind the counter even offered to get me a box bc I was having trouble carrying all the food myself. He then ran (literally ran) all the way to the back of the building to get a box for me.

Definitely will be our go-to place to eat when we are on Kauai’s south shore. You can even place your order online & just go pick it up. Really happy to have stumbled upon this place!

We got chicken tacos on corn tortillas, beef tacos on flour tortillas, and a carne asada bowl. Already devoured most of the tacos before I thought to...

Overall good food, BUT slow/bad service, mistakes in order. Details below.

The food was decent but customer service knocks it down to 2 stars. They were telling everyone in the long line it was a 30min wait. Realistically this kind of food should be faster but, its local, its supposedly very good, so fine I agreed to wait. It took minimum of one hour for us and those ordering around us to get their food. I’m okay with waiting for good food but I appreciate honesty in projecting a wait time. I can go do something with that hour.

Before someone says “order online” there were at least two parties who came an hour after ordering to pick up as instructed online and still waited 20-30min much to their frustration. Frankly the order in which food was ordered versus the order on which it was being prepared made no sense to me. People who ordered much after me would get multiple fish burritos and walk away in 20min even though we were standing here waiting for a fish burrito bowl and fish tacos for nearly 45min.

After all this, I got back to my hotel only to find that there were a couple of things missing in my dish. I was pretty excited about this place but was really really let down, and lost a large part of an...

Extremely short and mean to non-island natives. Menu is simple but also confusing for first timers. Where places that have a menu like this where you have a rice and beans option, where the primary Mexican rice is included (as it is with this menu), you often don’t have to mention the included rice option as it is assumed. At this place nothing is assumed, and you have to state you’d like the included items such as the Mexi rice. I went back to ask why mine explicitly said “no” to the included item rice I assumed was basic staple unless otherwise asked for it not to be included. When they said I didn’t ask for it - I stated I was disappointed in the system of this ordering -which prompted the window staff and the nearest grill staff member towards the window to literally laugh at me. This felt directly related to the fact I don’t look like a traditional islander due to my skin color. The food I got was great. I’d even have said it would had been a 5/5 for this interaction if I would had gotten everything I assumed to be getting. Would never return based on being laughed at....

If I get to only have one restaurant on this island for the rest of my trip Da Crack it is. The credit for searching this hole in the wall goes to Google map! What a gem! We were standing in front of the menu for 5 mins because there were lots to choose from! I went with the veggie burrito and husband got the fish. In hindsight, he would’ve picked the veggie one too. It was HUGE! Very generous portion, they certainly don’t skimp on their beans and rice which I love, veggie one also comes with the guac with no additional cost that’s a sweet bonus to us. Though one thing I had to say is the salsa hotness doesn’t match my expectation, went with “LAVA”, which supposed to be the hottest, habanero salsa, but it wasn’t even a tinkle of spiciness. Had to ask for extra as I thought they left it out but even husband couldn’t tell it’s spicy. This is a bit of a let down but won’t affect the fact this is honestly the most worth it, great value complete meal at all time.

Da Crack in Poipu is the kind of spot you’ll be dreaming about long after you’ve left the island. 🏝️ Their shrimp bowl 🍤 was absolutely loaded—bursting with fresh, vibrant flavors, perfectly cooked shrimp, and just the right ratio of rice, beans, and toppings. Quick service ⚡ and generous portions seal the deal. 🐟 A standout on the menu? The fish bowl featuring the catch of the day—grilled to tender perfection. It’s fresh, local, and tastes like a bite of the ocean 🌊. Paired with your choice of sides, it's clean, satisfying, and seriously ono. 🤙 💳 Just a heads-up: there’s a nearly 4% surcharge for using a credit card. Not a deal-breaker, but good to know—cash 💵 will save you a few extra cents (and surprises). Whether you're a carnivore 🥩, pescatarian 🐠, or plant-based 🌱 foodie, Da Crack delivers casual island eats that totally hit the spot. I’ll be back—with more cash and an even bigger appetite. 😋🌺
