The cottages are really just a single unit divided into 3 small rooms with separate entrances. It's a 30-minute walk from Poipu Beach. The rooms were hastily cleaned, with lots of dust left to accumulate. There are cockroaches, and the cleaner just sweeps them under the bed or a night table. In the evening, when you open the cabinet doors or drawers, cockroaches run in all directions to hide from the light. When we told the owner about this, he suggested that the bugs could have been brought by us as it's easy for roaches to hide in a rental car trunk. This tells you a lot about the owner's desire to deal with the problems. Unfortunately, upon arrival home, we had to leave our suitcases outside the house and spend hours carefully shaking every item to make sure none of the cockroaches sneaked in. This is not an activity anyone would be looking forward after vacation, as you can imagine. The property clearly gets little attention from the owner. The kitchen is not very useful other than keeping takeouts in the fridge. For example, if you hope to warm up some meals or cook something basic, you'll be out of luck. The hot plate is decades old. If you want to boil some eggs, as an example, it takes 30 minutes to bring a small pot of water to boiling. The knives are so dull that you can't cut a tomato. The knife sharpener is broken. A/C is positioned awkwardly as it blows air directly at a person on the right side of the bed. The bathroom has no a/c or ventilation and becomes uncomfortably hot throughout the day. There's an excessive collection of dust in some places: corners, behind TV, under the furniture. We are tidy people, and during our stay, we kept everything clean, just like we keep our home clean. Attached is a photo of how we left the property - clean dishes, clean sink, etc. So you can imagine how it felt to stay in this cottage. In summary, the place needs some serious owner attention and bug control. I can not recommend this place to anyone.

EJ’s cottage is exactly what we needed for our Kauai trip! We stayed in the Hibiscus unit and it was exactly as described - clean, comfortable and quiet. We also appreciated all the amenities from the beach chairs and towels to the lovely chocolates and drinks in the fridge. The cottages are perfectly located about a 2 minute easy walk to Baby Beach which was perfect for sunsets and turtle watching. It was also a convenient home base for all our outdoor hiking and kayaking adventures. Definitely recommend this spot!

Stayed at Hibiscus for a week in April - so lovely!! Perfect little walk to Baby Beach, gorgeous and quiet neighborhood, space was exactly what we needed as we spent more time out adventuring than inside. Centrally located and easy to pop over to shops/restaurants/Poipu beach etc. magical stay - thank you again, Mahalo! So glad we found this gem instead of dealing with all the people at a resort.

My wife and I spent six nights here for our 10th anniversary and we couldn't have been happier! We were fortunate to have run into EJ the day we checked in. Not only was he pleasant and welcoming but he was a wealth of knowledge. He gave us a quick tour of the property and provided us with a quick rundown of local points of interest. Turns out all of that information is included in a three ring binder the wife and I nicknamed "the bible". Chock full of info it was a perfect guide for our stay.

The property itself was meticulously maintained. Plenty of extras available to make our stay feel like we were at home. Beach chairs, umbrellas, a cooler at the ready for the five minute walk to Baby Beach. A well appointed kitchen with pretty much everything needed to cook a full meal, spices and seasonings included, as well a gas grill on the cozy patio.

We ran into EJ a couple more times over the next few days and he was just as pleasant as the first day we met him. He seemed genuinely interested in how we were getting along and if we had everything we needed,- which, of course, we did. And he still provided us with more information about where to dine, where to go for the beach, even some local history. And if we ever needed anything he responded almost immediately via Vrbo communication.

I could go on and on about how perfect this property was for us but I think it's pretty clear. From the physical property to the location to EJ's hospitality I couldn't recommend it more. 15/10, would definitely stay again!...

What a great time at Kauai Cove Cottages! EJ and Diane have really made the place so welcoming with lots of little extras (beach towels, cooler, beach chairs, and a very helpful local guide - plus a lot of other little things that just make you feel cared for). It was immaculately clean, super comfortable (the bed just envelopes you - super soft mattress and high thread-count sheets), and very quiet. There's a fridge and microwave and a hot plate, plus a coffee maker and plenty of dishes. TV, DVD player, and WiFi, too. The location was a great home base for all our exploration. It's a short walk to great shopping, a local foods market, coffee, and several local beaches. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful as well. We stayed in the Wild Orchid, which is the middle of a three-unit triplex. As such, we only had windows on two walls of the unit, but it was still very bright and airy. Noise from our neighbors was a non-issue. Thanks again, EJ and Diane, for a wonderful place to stay. You guys really...
