Eden Coffee Poipu — Restaurant in Kauai

My husband and I are huge coffee fans. We always extensively research coffee spots wherever we travel and coffee hop until we find the best shop. This ended up being our number one pick after some research in the Poipu South Shore area.

Unfortunately we received terrible service and ended leaving for a different spot, so we can’t comment on the coffee itself. As previous baristas of 7 years, we like to believe there is a certain basic standard within a coffee shop setting. The two young gals at the front were talking to the customer before us for about 5-10 minutes. Never said hi, or we will be with you in a sec. I can understand this if the shop is in a rush and has to keep up with customers. But not this shop. One was making drinks and joining in the conversation. The other young one was fully at the kiosk, not assisting the other barista at all, but decided to have a full conversation for 10 minutes instead of helping the next customers. She had time to let the young guy (maybe flirting?) know her age, when she would graduate, her hobbies, hardships, etc. I would have at the very least appreciated an, “I’ll be with you in a second.” DO NOT come here if you are in a hurry. Though their reviews seem to be good.

We ended up going to dark horse with is a 1 minute drive away, though it was a pain in the butt to wait 10 minutes with no coffee, walk back to the car, buckle our toddler in, and do this all over again. I know this shop gets high reviews and I would have loved to give your coffee a chance but this was honestly a terrible experience with some pretty immature baristas.

Eden coffee is amazing! The owner is so engaging and clearly cares that you not only enjoy your coffee but your entire experience. But speaking of the coffee, hands down some of the BEST coffee on island. (And I have to say... while I hate to admit it, I’m kinda a coffee snob. Grew up in the pacific north west and spent the last 6 years of my life in Portland... coffee capital of the world. So when it come to coffee I’m kinda picky! 😬 but eden coffee is killin it! Would even rival Portland coffee!) Amazing either straight black or with a little extra flavored love. K just one last thing to shout out... the cart itself. They did such an amazing job designing it. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen such a good lookin cart. They took my expections of a “food/coffee truck” and took it to the next level. Covered in beautiful stained wood, eden coffee was also just a sight to see! Wether your local or visiting on vacation don’t miss out on checkin...

Eden was fantastic and based on the reviews- I now see that I'm clearly late to the party! I was lucky to run into this cafe truck while waiting for my food at a couple of the food trucks in the area. I was helped by Morgan who was very knowledgeable and knew her stuff; before my visit I thought I knew a lot about chi teas but I had no idea... I had one of their flavored (orange) chi teas which was absolutely delicious. I'm not used to flavored chi but Morgan opened my eyes to the options available out there.
