SKIMPPY Shrimp Place. We have always eaten here when we come to Kauai. SIMPPY is not for the food. It's for the bill. The menu that is posted outside. You order, than sit outside at the tables they provide. We ordered to most popular - Garlic Shrimp - $16.95 and a side of french fries - $4.95 and can of coke - $1.95. We had to ask for a printed receipt. After we had eaten...yes, yummy food, I looked at the receipt to see why it didn't seem like we got the price that was posted on the menu. I noticed that we had paid an extra $2.00 for shrimp they peeled for you and $.50 per item (our food was in two boxes) =$1.00 for take out fee. I went up to the lady who took our order, and told her that we had been overcharged and that we had eaten at the food establishment. She was fisty and told me that it was a box fee. I told her it said "To Go" fee. She tried to tell me it's like going to a store and they charge you a fee for a bag. I had not been asked. I was mad! I had not asked for the shrimp to be peeled, not had I asked if I wanted "To Go" - ie..bag fee. SO be aware - SKIMPPY should no be operating this way. False advertising and very dishonest! If I go back...I will bring my own plate from the hotel we...

Went there and had some shrimp tacos. So here goes a more open understanding of this place as a whole. 1). The restaurant in looks out of 10 I really got to say its a 5 you can see they need some painting to do and I'm not talking about the writing on the walls, that i think is super cool so they got some maintenance to do. 2). The place was dusty and for what I could see in the kitchen there is some cleaning to do (I worked in the food business for 6 years) on floors and kitchen equipment. 3). The food side I like the tacos the shrimp tasted fresh so that alone was great but I had better tacos. Maybe if its your first time ask for any recommendations as what to try. Also be careful when ordering I got my order confused by the cashier I only ask for 2 tacos not 2 orders of 2 so just heads up. 4). The price is great and the orders are pretty decent so yes you will be satisfied. 5). Down part they do have a pet. It's a cat no harm done but its a business and like so you got to comply because not everyone likes cats I don't mind but I'll leave that up to the clients. Over all I like the place...

Disappointing! This is a place where my traveling companion saw such great reviews on TikTok. Which is why I lend my reviews and my research from Google reviews. First night we went we arrived @ 7:50 & they were already closed even tho the sign says they close @ 8. I can sorta understand being in the restaurant business for over 30 years but also by that same token, we’re in it for the guest or you’re in the wrong business. So we came back another night. I had the garlic shrimp tacos, will say not bad. They were nice size fresh ingredients and nice shrimp but hardly any garlic flavor. My companion had the coconut shrimp and will have to say, sad & disappointing. It was that basic variety store bought frozen coconut shrimp found in every low end grocery store store & my companion concurred for she has been in restaurant industry longer than I have. They also charge you .50 cents on every transaction for carry out fee. Well sorry that should already be factored into your pricing & you’re not offered any eat-in choice option. So definitely not worth...

What an interesting spot. It's quite pricey for the shrimp, but it's tasty! We tried the garlic shrimp, a la carte coconut shrimp, and the aloha shrimp. 1. The garlic shrimp is good - you NEED to suck on the shrimp to get the sauce first. Once you peel it, the taste is gone. 2. The coconut shrimp a la carte - pretty good. A ton of batter, but delicious. 3. The aloha shrimp is okay - I'd pass on this over the garlic/coconut. As for the service, the lady who ran the shop was just so kind. She was trying to cater towards everybody with a long line. We all wanted to just help her out for being so kind! She didn't seem frustrated or anything with such a long line of folks! Cheers to hauling tail and servicing the customers. Would return again.

You'd think that since "shrimp" is in the name of the restaurant, you would AT LEAST recieve better-than-mediocre shrimp, and you'd think that a place that uses as much garlic as they do, they'd AT LEAST prep fresh garlic for their dishes. Sadly, this is not the case. Overall just really bland garlic shrimp (I didn't even think that was possible) and I don't even know where to begin with the "taco." I knew the garlic fries would be the saving grace, but even that was a letdown. They were waaaay too oily. All this MIGHT be acceptable if it were a food truck in the middle of nowhere at cheapo prices, but it's at a mall with restaurant prices. Pretty disappointing.
