Bubba Burgers is a classic Hawaiian burger joint that delivers on simplicity, flavor, and an old-school vibe. Located in a charming, laid-back spot, this place serves 100% grass-fed Kauai beef, making each bite juicy and fresh.
Food & Flavor
We tried a variety of items, including:
Bubba Burgers – Classic, simple, and incredibly flavorful. The patties are cooked well and have that perfect char-grilled taste.
Slopper Burger – A messy but delicious open-faced burger smothered in chili. Highly recommended if you're craving something heartier.
Beyond Burger – A solid option for vegetarians, maintaining that grilled flavor without the meat.
Fries & Onion Rings – The fries were crispy, and the onion rings were thick and golden, adding the perfect crunch.
Ambience & Service
The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, with a rustic, vintage Hawaiian feel. The staff was friendly and quick with service, even though it was quite busy. Expect a short wait during peak hours, but it's well worth it.
Final Thoughts
Bubba Burgers is a must-visit if you're in Kauai and craving a no-frills, high-quality burger experience. The local beef makes a noticeable difference in taste, and the classic approach to burgers keeps things simple but delicious. Pair it with fries, grab a seat outside, and soak in the...
Read moreAfter we ate, I'd honestly wished we had just gone to McDonald's for burgers. We had a variety of different burgers among our group, and overall the burger patties were good, but the toppings left a lot to be desired. The Kauai special has pineapple, but only a single pre sliced ring from a can placed directly on the burger. We also had regular fries, truffle fries, and furikake fries. They were all shoestring, in n out style fries, which I have no problem with, but be aware if you're not a fan. The truffle fries lacked the truffle flavor, and the furikake fries had maybe a little squeeze of mayo and furikake on top, which covered only about 20% of the total fries. They were fine, just seemed to be lacking. DO NOT GET THE SHAKES!! We're pretty sure their "shakes" are just ice, little bit of ice cream, and way too much shaved ice syrup. The strawberry shake we got was a dark, Pepto colored pink and tasted so chalky and bitter we didn't have more than two sips. Everyone behind the counter was cranky, service is slow (altho there is a sign on the front door saying they're short staffed). The deck was nice and we had plenty of seating, and it was clean. Overall, few redeeming qualities, but still somewhere I won't be...
Read moreBubba Burger's claim to fame, or perhaps notoriety, might just be their motto, "We cheat tourists, drunks, and attorneys." Alas, this seemed less of a tongue-in-cheek jest and more an accurate preview of my meal. The establishment itself thrives on a misguided sense of superiority, boldly declaring "We're not McDonald's or Burger King!" Yet, this was no saving grace for the pitifully small patties, akin to vanishing magic tricks that left you questioning their initial existence. All jokes aside, these laughably undersized burgers coupled with the nearly non-existent serving of fries would leave any patron feeling duped.
The jesting tone of the restaurant, unfortunately, doesn't extend to their price tags. Two nearly meatless burgers, accompanied by a handful of fries, amounted to an exorbitant $30 – a costly punchline indeed. Bubba Burger's humour may entice some, but if you're after substantial servings, it's best to keep moving. Any amusement to be found is unfortunately undermined by the disappointing reality of their food offerings. In essence, Bubba Burger is a touristic trap, where the jokes are as serious as the culinary disappointment. Bon appétit...
