Fire Dog Breads — Restaurant in Keene

I've been searching for a truly authentic loaf of sourdough bread since returning to NH two years ago. Finally found it from Fire Dog at Roy's Market in Peterborough! Exterior is heartily crusty; interior has a heavenly chewy crumb and the sourdough flavor is perfectly balanced. The owner, Sam, had kindly answered several questions for me via email, and we visited the bakery in Keene the other day. He is very personable and obviously aims to please his customers. All of the pastries are beautiful--we tried the almond and chocolate croissants and they are so light and airy. This is the most wonderful bakery I have experienced in years. Fire dog breads, pastries, and sandwiches are definitely the most delicious and honest I’ve had in this area (and further from home). So many bakeries focus on volume and visual effects but do not have the skills to produce truly delicious artisan goods…Fire Dog possesses those skills, a commitment to sourcing as healthily and as locally as possible, and the artistic sensibility to create true artisan foods. DO NOT USE ONLINE ORDERING UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR MONEY STOLEN!! Typically I love coming to Fire Dog Breads every weekend. However, last Saturday when I arrived to pick up my mobile order (placed the evening prior), I was informed that there was an inventory issue and one of the items I ordered was not available. The worker stated that she would refund me for that particular item and I should receive my money back by the next day. I still have yet to get my money back for an item I never received due to an issue on their end. I am deeply disappointed and frustrated that I drove 30 minutes to not only not receive the pastry I was craving but also to have paid for it and not be refunded....
