We had dinner last night at Crazy Alan’s. When we arrived at 6:30 PM, we were given an estimated wait time of 1 hour and 20 minutes, but we didn’t get seated until 8:30 PM—a full two-hour wait. There are benches outside where you can wait, listen to live music, and even order drinks (though we didn’t), but the wait was still too long. Since it was our first time there, we didn’t know what to expect. We soon realized that it’s not the best spot for small children. However, the live music was a nice touch, and I appreciated that our table was upstairs, where there was air conditioning. The restaurant doesn’t have much space for large groups. We were a party of nine, and it seemed like there were only about three tables upstairs that could accommodate us, which likely contributed to the long wait. We came for the crawfish, but by the time we were seated, they had run out of live crawfish. Instead, I ordered the Best deal—the catfish and shrimp combo for about $23. It came with a side salad and gumbo, and I must say, it was very good. The gumbo was hands-down the best, and the salad was fresh and crispy. I loved the catfish and shrimp; the shrimp was a bit smaller than I prefer, but it was still good. The onion rings and fries were also solid. About five of us ordered the same meal, and my son-in-law got the snow crab. He was blown away by it and was already talking about coming back. Our server was excellent—attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, the dining experience was good, and I’d definitely return with a smaller group. One thing I wish I had known beforehand is that you can join the waitlist on Yelp. When I called ahead to ask about reservations, they didn’t mention that, which would have been helpful. The pricing was very fair for the quality and portion sizes. The only downside is that it’s not as clean as I’d like, but then again, it is a shack-style restaurant. Overall, I’d go back!

So the FIASCO THAT WAS on I-10 that is no longer. If I could have gave it a negative mark, it would have been done! That was then and this is now. Let's talk atmospheres: very Louisiana swamp shack vibes and right under the 146 Highway bridge. Originally, I had my order planned out but the audible came quickly. The menu is cajun themed and reads of an action movie....fast and loud! Read it before you get to the restaurant! I sat at the bar to avoid waiting in line which didn't matter for it was early evening. Shout out Jake the bartender and management. Now, usually you see an African American (The Only One siting at the bar on a Saturday night) they treated me like a regular and checked on me regularly. Good job! And now. My order. Drinks: Bloody Maries were dark and strong. Appetizer: The Shrimp Cocktail was interesting. Chunky and tasty. Main Course: Blackened Texas Red Snapper with black eyed peas and garlic taters. Didn't need any extra seasoning(The salt and pepper shakers felt neglected) Desert: Crown Royal Bread Pudding. Not too sweet and not your grandmas but good still. Verdict: Why didn't they just make the I-10 one like this one. Best of all, it's near the Kemah Boardwalk. Gotta like that!

We drove by Crazy Alan's Swamp Shack at Bay Area and saw a guy displaying sign in front of restaurant saying: "Free appetizer with entree." Talk about bait and switch. Once we got inside they would not honor free appetizer even though guy at that very moment was holding the sign right at their front door saying free appetizer with entree. They said the free appetizer could not be used with any specials even though that was not posted on the sign. The manager did not even apologize nor did he give us the free appetizer with our order of 4 shrimp tacos. It appears to me to be false advertisement. That is just wrong and definitely poor customer service. It is not right to get you inside the door and then have exceptions. It should have been posted on the sign that was held up outside. Attached is the picture of the complete sign. I had thought maybe there was small print on the bottom of the sign and I did not see it, but that was not the case. It did not say any exceptions. The Waitress was extremely nice though, just not the manager.

The number one reason why we were here is to watch fireworks...and let me tell you , What a great place to watch fireworks without fighting with the crowd. You can watch from upstairs of the restaurant or right across from the restaurant, which is boat docking place. For many years we always stayed home during new years but that would stop now that we find new places to watch for fireworks Food wide, I like the grilled plates with grilled scallops, shrimp and fish. It tastes quite fresh in my options. The dirty rice and shrimp cocktail was good too, a tad spicy but it was good. The sauteed crab finger was disappointed and misleading, it was more like crab finger soaking in creamy pasta sauce. The shrimp boil could also improve, too much butter and not tasty enough ,need more salt Service was slow and could also totally improve. However I gave 4 star because giving the location and their reward incentives, I think it's worth to come back. Today was my first time came but I got $30 off from total bill from registering the rewards.

What a great place for food and wonderful service! We ate outside and it was nice with a big fan and breeze. Katherine was an amazing server. When we asked her for suggestions, one of the items was the trout medallions. Wowza! I've not had seafood this good in a long time. The trout was flaky, moist, and wrapped around some Cajun rice with shrimp. Plus there were 3 smoky yet sweet tasting shrimp on top. I could've just eaten that shrimp! The two medallions also had fresh steamed carrots and broccoli and super yummy garlic and olive oil new potatoes. It was plenty for two people. We also had an appetizer of bacon-wrapped scallops which I was looking forward to. The scallops were a little over-done and rubbery but maybe that was to make sure the bacon was cooked through. Good tasting other than the texture. Looks like some other great items we're trying next time. We'll definitely be back!
