🦃 Thanksgiving Getaway in Houston

After a day at the Space Center Houston, we stopped by T-Bone Tom’s in Kemah for dinner. A close friend of ours that used to live in this area recommended T-Bone Tom’s to us. There was no wait, and we were seated right away. As soon as you walk in, you can tell this place has been here for a while (the menu said “since 1974”) and there’s a really good vibe to the place. Our server, Amy, was awesome! She was friendly and attentive. Since it was our first time here, we had questions about the menu and Amy helped us pick our entrees. She made it a very enjoyable dining experience! We started with the Fried Mushrooms, which comes with house-made ranch dressing. This is a large portion of breaded, deep-fried mushrooms and it was good. The ranch dressing was great. For our main courses, we got the regular portion Chicken Fried Steak (gravy on the side) with onion rings and corn and the T-Bone Steak with a side salad and fries. The CFS was lightly breaded and very tender. We tried it with both white gravy (shown in the photo) and brown gravy. I liked it with the more traditional white gravy, but my wife liked it with the brown gravy. Just ask, they’ll bring out both for you to try! This was really good CFS, and I can see why it is one of their bestsellers. The fried onion rings were very good (with more of the ranch dressing!) and the corn was also good. With our appetizer, the regular sized portion was perfect….my wife would not have been able to finish the large portion! I ordered the T-Bone steak medium rare, and initially it was a little rarer than I liked. But the manager came around to our table to ask how our food was, and he was happy to take it back and throw it on the grill for a few more minutes. The manager brought it back out to make sure it was exactly how I liked it, and it was perfect. This was a nice piece of meat that had great flavor. The fries were really good also. We had a great meal at T-Bone Tom’s. I highly recommend that you put it on your list of places to eat.

I just love impromptu invitations (came spontaneously from former colleagues from 2008-2009)! Always a way to discover new places, sights and sounds! Arrived very early at T-Bone Tom's and decided to take plenty of pictures. The ones posted are from the front and do not include venue and bar area. Saving that for another day 😁. They schedule live music 6 nights of the week, but the ladies wanted to talk. No music on Monday nights. Upon entering the restaurant was greeted by Steven, manager, a nice young man. However, my friends hadn't called, yet, for seating arrangements. He waited patiently for me to make a quick call and then had me seated to wait for my party. I loved it because I was really very early!!! It also gave me time to look at the menu and soak in some of the atmosphere 😋. Have short clip to give you an idea of it! Paige, our server for the evening, was at the table before I knew it. Beside the food, she made the evening even better with her smile and excellent service! I didn't want to just sit there, so I ordered a decaf, which they freshly brewed for me! I started off with the Vegas Shrimp Cocktail. By the time I finished, the rest of the party had arrived. We ordered the Tiki Smash from the drink menu. It was so refreshing and light, it can be very dangerous! All of the dishes were tantalizing! A very hard choice! Since Armadillo Eggs and Shark Eggs come four to a plate, Paige said she could do a half order each. Just loved that! The eggs are basically battered jalapenos filled with a seafood combination (shark) and pulled BBQ (armadillo), deep fried. The bite is in the batter!!! After enjoying these specialty "eggs", there wasn't any room left to order their bread pudding. Next time around!!! If you are traveling and visit the Kemah Boardwalk area, pin Tom's as a definite must try!!! You'll be glad you did!

Dining Experience @ T-Bone Tom's. . A barbecue institution, famed for their hand-cut beef steaks, righteous Texas barbecue, and delicious sides. Acclaimed from being featured on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins And Dives, regularly drawing a crowd during peak meal periods. . Greatly enjoyed the Sliced Brisket Plate (USD $17.99), which came with a choice of 2 side dishes. The Smoked Beef Brisket was excellent, done in the Central Texas style of barbecue, with just a simple seasoning that emphasizes the meat. The Smoked Beef Brisket has a tender succulent juicy texture with enticing smoky meaty savoury salty spice flavour. . Served on the side, their Barbecue Sauce is thick sticky and velvety in texture, with bright tangy sour sweet savoury spice flavour. . The Dill Pickles & White Onions accompany the meal. The crunchy dill pickles lend a burst of vegetal sour bitter sweet flavour, while the crisp white onions carry a vegetal earthy sweet sour flavour. Refreshing, helps to alleviate the palate as you work through the barbecue. . Enjoyed the Coleslaw (USD $2.99), so refreshing as it was served chilled. Has a crunchy crisp texture with vegetal sweet sour milky flavour, nicely light on the palate. . The Onion Rings (USD $3.99) were addictively tasty. Thinly sliced, the Texas onions are enveloped in a super crispy batter, shattering with a gentle crunch to release mild vegetal earthy sweet salty savoury flavour. Couldn't stop. . The large slice of Pecan Pie (USD $5.99) was so decadent. The thick and chunky pie has firm crunchy crumbly texture, with warm nutty earthy sweet floral flavour. Topped with thick lashings of caramel sauce and a scoop of creamy smooth vanilla ice cream, which balanced the warm pie with cool floral earthy candied sweet flavour.

I got the small chicken fried steak with a dinner salad and fried okra as my sides with the add on of shrimp. My friend got the bacon wrapped tenderloin with a bake potato and mac and cheese as his sides. Everything tasted divine and even though it was crowded the service was fast, courteous, and wonderful. We had a starter of their in house made sausage. Again great quality and amazing taste. The BBQ sauce that came with the sausage had a delightful hint of Tabasco sauce mixed in with some sweet flavors, which made my taste buds do a happy dance. The cocktail sauce was on point in the amount of horseradish mixed in, while the tartar sauce was very creamy and not over powered by dill relish. The dressing for my salad was a mixture of two. I chose ranch and blue cheese as my dressing choice. First I have to say they were not shiesty with the amount of dressing given. Next the house ranch dressing was the smoothest, creamyist, tangyist one I have had to date. I adored it and strongly recommend y'all try it. The blue cheese was creamy and smelly like I like it. I enjoyed the fresh chunks of blue cheese in some of my bites. Rebekkah was friendly and always willing to help when we were stuck on choices to make for our dinning experience. It was packed as this was a Friday night and a live band was playing out on the patio area. She had a lot of tables but our drink glasses were never empty and she checked by with updated on our food progression. 5 stars are not enough to rate how great this place is, I'd love to be able to give it 10 stars but I can't. All I can do is give it 5 stars and tell everyone to go! The price for the amount and quality of food is worth it and you will not regret going.
