Toshi's Teriyaki — Restaurant in Kenmore

The lady who took my order wasn't friendly or welcoming and maybe said 2 words. When I said I wanted to dine in the lady's reaction was to seem surprised?.....I was the only dine in customer. I ordered the chicken teriyaki with katsu combo. I received mostly katsu and a few pieces of teriyaki chicken. Next time someone orders this combo provide more teriyaki chicken or call it the katsu combo with teriyaki chicken. The main meal description should have more of that item if you will not equally portion the combo, and not the other way around. I should have just ordered the teriyaki chicken. I did like that the food was served on a plate and there was metal fork and napkin provided. The lettuce salad was served separately on a small plate which I thought was different. The salad could easily be included with the main meal plate as there was space for it. A little more meat would have been appreciated too versus so much of the white rice. This was shy an $18.00 meal. Katsu was excellent but the sparse portion of teriyaki chicken was average and nothing to rave about as it was not freshly cooked and appeared to be left over from previously cooked chicken. I am finding it challenging to find a 5 star teriyaki...

Licking the sidewalk would be healthier than eating here. I've typed & retyped this review three times because I thought what I was saying was "too mean" but I have to be honest: EATING HERE WILL MAKE YOU SICK. I work at one of the businesses in the same strip as Toshi's & one of my coworkers ate here for lunch; He had to leave work early because he got sick not even an hour after finishing the food! My boss even told me, "I told him not to eat there because I ate there once & I got sick too." Last year I ate here once & didn't get sick, because my teriyaki was SO SALTY that I threw it away after eating one bite. I have no idea how these people remain in business. The meat was okay but the veggies were inedible. This was not a good bargain for the price. I ordered the chicken and pork dinner and specifically requested the meat be sliced not skewers and got sliced chicken but the pork was on skewers. The meat tasted okay but nothing special. The dinner came with veggies and a salad. The veggies looked rather slimy so I didn't eat them and the salad was old and inedible. They do provide a lot of white rice though. Nevertheless there are better teriyaki joints to try. I've noticed there are quite a few Toshi's Teriyaki around but they're not standardized at all; one Toshi's may be great and another awful.
