I had my 50th birthday at Chioma’s African Restaurant, and I have to say — it was absolutely perfect! From start to finish, Chioma and her team overdelivered in every possible way. First, the food — oh my god! The African food was absolutely finger-licking good! My guests and I couldn’t stop raving about how flavorful and authentic everything tasted. And let me tell you, there was plenty of food to go around — everyone was well-fed and satisfied. For the amount and quality of food we got, the price was unbelievably affordable. The environment was spotless — clean, pristine, and so welcoming. The warmth and hospitality made everyone feel comfortable and at home. Dorcas- the owner herself was incredibly professional and went above and beyond to make my day special. She even added so many thoughtful extras, including beautiful balloons and coordinating the birthday cake! It truly felt like a one-stop-shop for a celebration — I didn’t have to stress about a thing. My 40 guests were blown away, and I’m confident Dorcas gained a lot of new loyal customers that night because everyone is already talking about going back! If you’re looking for a place to celebrate any event or just enjoy incredible African cuisine, Chioma’s African Restaurant is the place to go. Dorcas, thank you for making my milestone birthday so special. I will definitely be back — and so will my guests!

To say I am disappointed is an understatement, this is the only African restaurant in this area and every time I go, I’m disappointed. So this time I decided to write a review. The fact that I paid $21 and this is what I get a whole plate of rice, two small pieces meat, and a half bowl of okra soup. So basically I paid to have rice for lunch. I figured if I would go earlier in the day, I will get fresh food, but I didn’t. The okra soup taste burnt. The meat was very tough and the rice let’s just say the rice was not made that day. I love supporting black owned restaurants, but at the same time I would like to get my money worth for my food, because I could have went home and made me a pot of rice. I am upset and will no longer support this restaurant. I will drive all the way to Decatur just to get some Africanfood

Don’t waste your money or time! This was the least flavorful African food we have ever eaten! We walked in, there was no other people seated/ eating at this restaurant (which should have been a hint to us) and all the staff was on their phones ( we heard their phones playing videos) and we waited to see if anyone would say anything, they did not stand up or speak to us, so after waiting 30 plus seconds we spoke and said this is our first time here, would you prefer we seat our selves? And they finally spoke to us. When we sat down we noticed that the plates on the table were not clean, but we just traded them out with the table next to us. Then when we ordered we asked, if the meat would be tender and she said yes, it is all wonderful and very tender meat. We ordered three meals that we usually like to share for two people, we got the Egusi soup with turkey(more bones than turkey and the toughest meat we have ever tried to eat), Jollof rice with goat meat ( the rice needed salt, which was surprisingly bland & the goat meat was not tender like she said it would be) & Okra soup with beef (the beef was the best meat tonight, which was not great). We also ordered a side of plantains (they were not cooked thoroughly). There was a tv playing music videos loudly (this actually helped with the ambience) that stopped playing soon after we received our food and the staff didn’t notice or care because they were playing their own cell phone videos that we got to listen to while we finished trying to tenderize/ pull apart and debone our food. Two people came into pickup orders while we were there and we could here a microwave being used. Maybe that is why the food was so tough, we just couldn’t hear that they were cooking or reheating our food in a microwave because the music videos were being blasted on the tv while we waited for our food to be served! So, beware, there are much better places to go eat African food at. This place should NOT have the name CUISINE in their name! The staff never came to check on us either. At the end of the meal when I did not tip (which I never do not do, I always tip at least 20 %)the waitress seemed upset with me and she said, was something wrong, I said to her, first, you never came to check on us, you also said the meat would be very tender and I told her that the meat was very tough and there were more bones than meat and I showed her the plate of bones and then she started to raise her voice and tell me the meat is very tender, so I responded, maybe our definition of tender is different, but I can’t believe you are trying to argue with me! She said, we hope you will try us again, I said, no, we will NEVER be back here, because we know of many better restaurants than this and you have had your chance to show us what you are capable of, good...

I haven’t even received my food yet anmd I’m making this review .. and i called in to see how big the side of soup was out of curiosity . The lady that answered the phone told me when i receive my food then I’ll see that she Dosent have time to speak to me because their busy .you never know who your speaking to or who you’re serving I have a platform with over 50k audience that i do food reviews on and i will speak on my experience i wanted to support a local business and at that African .being told I was they were too busy to to quickly tell me the size (explaining how she was too busy to speak to me could have been the time she told me the size of the container ) she sat the phone down . I called back a second time and i was met with an immediate attitude … the phone was sat down again and i heard them talking about me in a negative way . I will be 100% sure to leave a horrible video review once i receive this food . As im typing this im still on hold . The most horrible customer service and i wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve spit in my food . I will be sure to leave a review everyday just for this experience alone . When you open a restaurant so serve a local community you at least can tell your customer what size of soup you sell . I’ll be sure to tell people to stay away from this place . And also i recorded both calls so you can’t deny any of this . Your business will never prosper with employees with such disgusting service . Mind you I’ve never tried this place before … you’ll hear from me soon. You won’t be busy for long 😉 the BEST AFRICAN SPOT IS CALLED AFRICAN SOUL FOOD LOCATED IN MARIETTA GA . save your time and don’t order here

Update : spotted the store while driving went in store and people are behind the counter with their shoes off , personal items behind the counter all out in the open and tons of flies . Walked in was never greeted… but stared at , about 30 seconds into me standing there someone finally tells me they’ll be right with me(no customer was in the store but it was 3 people behind the counter just sitting ) . Thought i would stop back by with an updated review actually going into the establishment . I know i came on a random day but looking at the restaurant...
