El Taco Azteca Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Kennesaw

So, the only thing I can think when I read some of these reviews about how delicious the food is, etc. is that people have low standards and have never been to Texas and had real Tex-Mex.

The Pros: Quick to get a seat. Decent chips and salsa. The menu is overall easy to understand with lots of budget friendly options for all tastes. There are a couple of really friendly staff (I.e. the front of house supervisor and our waitress) and I’ll talk about the rest in a sec. Oh, their queso and fajita meat were surprisingly good! Yay for Azteca!!!

That was the good part.

The Cons: I ordered a Torta…no, that isn’t the bad part…when I asked for hot sauce to go on the torta (I like lime juice, a little green and a little red) the waitress told me I was going to have to pay $1 for each of those and would that be ok? Excuse me?! I have never, ever, ever been charged for hot sauce at a restaurant…and I just told her, No that would not be ok and I did not want Cholula or anything out of a bottle.

So needless to say, my torta was not that good because it needed hot sauce. :( Also, you want beans AND rice with a kids meal, you gotta pay extra for the beans…NOPE. The rest of the food was so so. I’m with others who said that the food was bland and not really anything special. Margaritas were too pricey for what they were…frozen were watery and not very strong. Could not finish my coconut margarita because it tasted like air freshener.

Note to the people managers…there are a lot of wasted bodies running around that restaurant. Wait staff sitting around, eating ritz crackers…the worst was the bartender SITTING DOWN every time she didn’t have a drink order to make. Not the best look.

My boyfriend and I use to love it here. It is a cute little restaurant, the food and drinks were good, and it was close to home. Unfortunately it’s gone down hill over the past year. The service is now horrible. It had been getting a bit uncomfortable the past few times we went but we liked going because it was nostalgic as it was one of the first few restaurants we went to when we started dating 3 years ago. We tried to ignore the hostility and still have a good time. Unfortunately, last night we couldn’t ignore it as it was in our face. Last night we had a new server that we have never seen before. We got margaritas and cheese dip to start the meal and then fajitas and a quesadilla. Towards the end of the meal our server got angry at us. I have no idea why. I know he was serving us and a large table but I had asked for some more waters as both my boyfriend and I had been out of water for a while. The server took two waters over to the large table after a few minutes so I asked for waters again as I was sure he just forgot and it wasn’t a big deal. When he came back and brought us the waters they had no ice and the server proceeded to slam the waters on the table and storm off. I made eye contact with him as he went to help the other table and he came back and wouldn’t look at us but gave a weak/fake apology. I don’t think we will ever be back here as we don’t want things to be done to our food and that’s where we are worried it’s going to go. It’s just not worth it, especially as the food isn’t as good as it use to be either. I wouldn’t go here if you want decent service and good food. There are lots of Mexican restaurants in the area, I would recommend you go...

I used to reguarly visit once per week. The staff knew my order, then the restaurant changed their business practices and has progressively gotten worse.

The quality is satisfactory. The portion sizes seem smaller than they once were, especially considering the prices on the menu have increased dramatically. During my last visit it felt like I was paying more for less, which was disappointing.

Additionally, I am surprised to see that the restaurant passes credit card processing fees on to the customers. I understand that businesses have expenses, but it would be nice to see these costs absorbed into the overall pricing structure rather than added on as an additional charge.

Despite these drawbacks, the ambiance of the restaurant is pleasant, and the service is attentive. The staff is friendly and accommodating, which enhances the overall dining experience.

In conclusion, decent food and good service, the smaller portions and additional charges for credit card processing may deter some customers. It's worth considering if you're in the mood for a nice meal but be prepared for potentially higher costs...
