So I have worked for Papa John's in the past from 2011 to 2015. I understand what goes on behind the scenes. I get things happen unintentionally because you can't control every second. But I had a horrendously cut pizza. Two of the eight slices were so awfully sized. One being huge and barely triangle "standards." The other slice in adjacent was so small it measured barely at 2 inches... The store has a guidline of how the slices should be cut...in the actual box. Even a pizza guide that is made out of plastic they use for managers to perform reviews on the store's quality.
When they get rushes at the oven, the oven can get overwhelming. I use to tag team with my coworkers and get the pizzas in the boxes asap to make sure things got done right. So this is one of those times. I get it. But here is the reason why I decided to even write this review. The manager that was on duty: Pete Smith.
I made my call in about this mistake and gave a backstory simple and similar to the one above. I was just saying I was unhappy with the order. (There was also some unwanted toppings on my pizza as well...) First thing stated, "Well you would have to call in next time you order to get a credit..." Kinda trails off and I was a bit shocked because I did not want it later I just wanted to have it remade and sent at the time of this call. Because of this comment I make he gives me his frustrations of how it has been a busy night and could not assure me the quickness of arrival. Continues to say in a very pissed and back to the wall kind of voice as if I am the bad guy for making him know how this came out. I barely made any accusations towards him other than if I need something fixed it'd be now. So he continues to repeat as if I had to make a decision of now or later. Why would I repeat myself again? It was very unprofessional and the whole call became a rude firestorm of how I am making it difficult for him. I am not an easily angered person. I didn't even raise my voice nor called him anything rude. The attitude displayed towards me, the customer, was awful and should have not been directed to me. I have enjoyed this store in the past but if their management persists at such rudeness I do not want any product from their location. I even offered him proof to text photos of the pizza and that I acknowledged myself as not to lie about such a ridiculous thing. That's why I was upset. He made it seem as if I was unreasonable to him.
So we get off the phone after he confirms what I had ordered. This call was quick and unfortunately rude. Once my "fixed" order arrived I asked the driver to kindly let me know who the manager was. Driver was very respectful. He listened to my irritation with the manager and apologized for the inconvenience. I open up the box and now a slice has a huge bubble that they squashed down. At least I have normal even slices, but the lack of consistency on their quality was as disappointing as the time I had to take to get things fixed...and to even create this review.
So if you were to expect issues on a busy night, you're darn right. I am understanding. But there is a line of how you act towards your customer. Towards your team's mistakes. You take them because you're...
Read moreThe only good experience that I had today was with the manager Mark. He had great customer service and fixed the problem immediately.
Now for the problem: I first want to say that our orders have been messed up every time that we’ve ordered at this location, but we keep going back since the MOD’s always correct the problem.
I haven’t ordered from the location in quite a few months due to the poor quality, but my daughter is out of school and wanted pizza so I give benefit of the doubt. I ordered our medium pizza at 12:45, eta was 1:15-1:25, so I called the store and spoke to Mark (again who was great) who gave the pizza to me for free since it was about 1:50 and the pizza has still not arrived. He told me to let the driver know that it’s “freed out” and “Mark said so”.
The driver for here at about 2:10 and didn’t apologize for the delay. I’ve been in the food industry for 11 years, so I’m pretty understanding. I’m also a manager, so I know what’s acceptable and what’s not acceptable. I let driver know what Mark said, but he didn’t believe me so I had to call Mark. Of course he told the driver that it’s for free and all the driver wanted to do was argue with him so the manger had to hang up (rightfully so). The driver was also got upset when he found out that he wasn’t getting a tip (I ALWAYS tip 30% since I’ve been in the industry so long).
I received the pizza and started to shut the door when I heard him popping off at the mouth. I shut the door, ignored his unprofessionalism, opened the pizza, and it was damaged! I used to deliver pizza so I understand, but this was pure carelessness. I went down the stairs and told him that the pizza was damaged and this is ridiculous ESPECIALLY since it had been almost an hour after my ETA. I also said, “If you weren’t late, you would have gotten a good tip but would have given me a damaged pizza...that’s not right”. He replied, “So what if it’s damaged? It’s for free, give it to me then. I’ll take it back”.
First off, it shouldn’t be damaged at all. Secondly, it should be in good condition if it’s an hour late. Thirdly, that’s not his call, it’s the manager’s decision and then my decision. Four of all, my daughter had been waiting for her pizza, I wasn’t going to take that away from her. I’m a Chef and doctored it up just fine. Lastly, if one of my employees talked to a customer in that manner and told them to give an order back after they screwed it up, I would write them up...no if’s, and’s, or but’s about it. I’ve received better customer service from teen burn outs than this Middle Aged gentleman. He should know better than that, and it isn’t helping the reviews for the store either. I appreciate you freeing this out Mark, but this will be the last time that I order from the Papa Johns. 5/6 orders have been messed up over the last year, don’t come here if you are expecting quality and/or plan on receiving your order in a timely manner.
**This is probably the third review that I’ve ever done because I understand the industry and am extremely sympathetic. Stuff happens, that’s life, but this is just a poor attitude and a lack of caring. The driver needs to find a new...
Read moreMy family just ordered from this disgusting establishment and buyer beware! Our pizza is covered in ants and pollen because the Manager left it on the ground at our front door. He never knocked or rang BC I asked to call BEFORE coming to the door to put up our dogs however he called then just left the food outside, box to concrete. I called back and he says its at the door and he wasn't waiting. I called the store who then put me back on the same manager who committed the crime of food sanitation. He got very angry at me and told me the pizza was only there for a few minutes, so I must be lying. I told him I just wanted pizza without the bugs and not sat outside for god knows. He said he would have to inspect the order THEN remake it. I wouldn't wish this place on anyone, I worked pizza delivery for years and would have never dared tried to leave food outside. Take it back to the store? Sure. Knock or ring the doorbell having tried other options? Of course. But this? Get a better manager and...
