Kabul Kebabs — Restaurant in Kent

Hard to believe the five-star reviews here. Before driving all the way from North Bend to Kent just to try their kabobs, I called the listed number — but the call was immediately declined. Silly me, I decided to go anyway.

When I arrived, the restaurant was extremely small and congested, with only two tables — both already occupied. The receptionist didn’t offer a menu, just confused as if waiting for me to explain why I was there.

I asked for a beef kabob, but was told they didn’t have any — understandable, but how would I know without a menu? So I ordered a lamb kabob instead. That sparked an argument between the person grilling and the receptionist in their language. The cook then acted as if my single order was an inconvenience and told me it would take at least forty minutes because they had many other orders.

Feeling unwelcome and disregarded as a customer, I left hungry. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Today I visited Kablee Keeba in Kent with my family, and it was such a wonderful experience. This is a small, family-run restaurant that serves authentic Afghani keeba, and the moment you taste it, it truly brings back memories if you’re from that part of the world. The owners are extremely hardworking and will go above and beyond to make sure you’re happy. You can really feel Afghan hospitality in the way they welcome and serve you. If you’re expecting a fine-dining, high-end restaurant experience, this is not that. But if you are looking for real, authentic Afghan food, this is absolutely the place to go. They only offer five dishes, but every single one is worth trying. I highly recommend eating at the restaurant itself while the food is hot—this is when you’ll get the best taste and experience. I love to see new places open in Kent but I’m not sure where these positive reviews are coming from bc this place is an utter disappointment. The oil used to fry their bread is so old, it made the entire under seasoned bread taste horrible. They have a child taking orders and she’s so soft spoken it’s hard to understand her when she explains half the menu is sold out. We waited 20 min for a piece of oily bread and another 20 minutes for a meal we thought was coming but never did. The entire staff ignored me at the counter when I tried to find out whether the rest of our food was coming and instead waited for the little girl to talk to me instead.
