La Chapanita — Restaurant in Kent

OMG this place was horrible. We each got a menudo me and my husband. The Menudo was not even cooked. Hard in texture It had a flavor that made it taste like it was dirty out of respect we ate the food plus we paid 20+ dollars for it seemed more like a club than a Restaurant. It was very dark very loud. The music was playing by a band and it seemed that they were testing out their instruments and we’re just banging and banging couldn’t even eat our food in peace couldn’t tell if restaurant was clean or not. So dark inside no air There was just so much clutter everywhere Did not look clean at all when we came in. We asked if we wanted to eat at the buffet, we said no it took a minute for them to come to us. They took our drink order. They didn’t have squirt and brought my husband‘s drink and realized that they did have a squirt she didn’t ask if I still wanted it she just sat it down. They brought it to me I was like okay I asked for a cup with ice inside I was thinking who knows how long the ice machine had been cleaned they brought it back we ordered the Menudo plate. Worst Menudo I have ever ate didn’t have any chips or salsa at the table, once they came and left our plate they didn’t come back to check on us at all. We had to ask for our bill. Finally they brought our bill and took our dirty dishes. I asked for a cup to take my drink with me we paid and we left definitely not coming back to this place. I’ve tried it out already a few times and each time I come I’m so dissatisfied definitely needs to be cleaned inside and before sending a plate out they should be checking that it is good like I said the Menudo that we got we could feel that it was still raw and did not feel or taste clean. If I could give this 0 stars I would.... to start off. My mom made reservations for this place a day before and they had confirmed the reservation with her. When we got there, they told us they didn't have our reservation. They did arrange a table for us at the end. They charge men $30 dollars for entrance fee( we arrived at 8pm) Way more than any club in Seattle. The place looks old and run down there was a broken down car near the entrance of the place. You are not allowed to step out to you car because THEY will tell you your night was done and will not allow you back in if they didn't see you leave. Which I found odd as they gave us wrist bands upon entrance? We got there at 8 and there were barley any people and the place was very warm. I got a tiny glass of water that was dirty not well cleaned (had beans around the rim) . When my food arrived the plate had cake icing on the bottom.( none of us ordered or had cake) the server had an attitude with us and looked very annoyed. Our orders where half delivered. We understand that our party was a little big but she argued with us on what we ordered. They also told us that they stopped making mixed drinks at 8?! The drinks that they did offer were way to expensive, and would over charge for some. 2025-8: the quality of the food overall has seriously declined over the past year or so. The nachos used to have a variety of toppings, while now they're mainly just chips, meat, beans. Disappointing how this has gone down hill.

I'm the past this was delicious food, good size portions, friendly staff. They are even happy to help me practice my admittedly broken Spanish. :)

2025-2 update; still delicious and we'll priced. Asada super nachos are darn good, 9/10. Chorizo quesadilla surprised me - also very good, 8/10.

2024-5 update: The super nachos is typically a good size for two people to share. My favorite meat is the adobada pork, yet the carne asada is also quite good. The majority of the time, the food is delicious and we really enjoy it. One experience recently where they had a mess: the portion was quite small, the food was cold, and it was just not what we have become accustomed to. When we called them to let them know, they were very willing to make it right and gave us a replacement order promptly. It was delicious And met our expectations. I appreciate that service.
