Not sure how the food was as we never had a chance to try it. My wife and I are from san angelo tx on our honeymoon and were very excited to try this place based on the reviews however we Sat down to order our drinks, I got a beer and my wife asked what they put in their sangria as on the menu it just says sangria and she has an allergy to certain fruit juices that sometimes appear in drinks. The waitress named baylee with glasses looked at my wife weird and said "it's a sangria" when my wife clarified that some places use juice or different ingredients the waitress stated "its wine and soda, its a sangria" in a very passive aggressive way. When my wife asked if it was soda water or flavored soda or what kind the women just stared at her and once again stated it was a sangria with wine and soda. My wife said she was going to take a minute to relook at the menu and decide and the waitress said "can i see your ID" my wife presented her ID (she's 23) the waitress left and then came back with a list of ingredients for the sangria that was extensive ( not just wine and soda) with a juice my wife wasnt allergic to, and my wife decided to try the sangria. The waitress asked to see my wife's ID again, and then left. She came back a 3rd time without the drink and asked to see my wife's ID and said another waitress said that my wife was in her class and not 21 and they weren't comfortable with serving her. My wife grew up in Washington state and is almost 24. My wife said as much and said we weren't even from town we lived in San angelo and asked if the waitress would like to check her ID a 4th time or if anyone else would like to check her ID. The waitress snapped at my wife and said "you don't have to get defensive" which made my wife very mad as she was already a little ticked off with the waitress for her being short before about the ingredient question, and I just told her to forget the drinks we would be dining elsewhere. The waitress then went to a waitress directly behind us and said something about us in earshot. We told that other waitress our complaints and left and came to The Boat restaurant next door which was amazing. This place is weird to people who don't just order quickly and leave, and they aren't friendly to non locals. Who's to say how...
Read moreI wanted to take a moment to share my heartfelt appreciation for the exceptional service provided by one of your waitresses, Kailin during our recent visit. It is with great pleasure that I write this review to express my gratitude for the outstanding experience we had, primarily due to the superb attentiveness and responsiveness of our waitress.
From the moment we were seated, our waitress demonstrated an exceptional level of attentiveness that immediately made us feel welcome and valued. She promptly approached our table with a warm smile, introducing herself and ensuring that we were comfortably settled. Her genuine enthusiasm and dedication to her role were evident throughout the entire dining experience.
Not only did our waitress excel in her ability to promptly fulfill our requests, but she also demonstrated an innate understanding of our needs and preferences. Her attentiveness to detail was truly remarkable, as she proactively anticipated our needs, such as refilling our glasses or offering suggestions based on our preferences. It was evident that she took pride in her work, consistently striving to provide the highest level of service possible.
Moreover, our waitress's responsiveness was truly commendable. Read moreSo let's just say my last night in Kerrville was definitely my worst culinary experience of my week long stay. I actually had some really decent food during the week. For a small town the food is really good but it does come at more of a premium than other small Texas Towns.
So I started with the loaded tots. They came out piping hot with a little side of ranch. These giant tots, you get six of them, are basically little bundles of fried bacon, cheese and chive baked potatoes. They are probably softer than you'd like but they are tasty.
Next the main course, and this is when I realized I shouldn't have gone in near closing. I ordered the fried catfish with fried okra and sweet potatoes casserole. I added an addition 4 fried shrimp to round out my meal. So first thing is this dish comes with a single catfish fillet. Now on to the root of my problem. This was the absolute worst catfish I've had from a restaurant, carrying that flavor of old super fishy fish. Yes I know it's catfish, I grew up in New Orleans, but by the taste of it, the fish had either been sitting out all day or been refrigerated for two weeks before being cooked. The shrimp were okay with that flaky batter that's popular everywhere but Cajun and Creole style cooking. The only glimmer of hope for this dish was the sweet potato casserole. The fried okra was over cooked and hard, and no matter how much hot sauce I used I couldn't save them.
I rounded out my dish with a little slice of the turtle cheesecake and two white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. These were actually the best part of my meal the dessert yes the dessert. What's weird about this entire experience is that I've been here before and on my previous visit this was one of the more popular places to eat. This has been supplanted my various locations downtown and around other parts of the tiny City. Needless to say if I'm ever in Kerrville again I doubt...
