PAX Coffee & Goods: A Kiss of Peace in these Tumultuous Times
The jewel of Historic Downtown Kerrville, Texas, PAX Coffee & Goods is more than just a coffee shop with loads of aesthetic appeal. It serves as a great place for the Hill Country community to gather and connect with one another live and face to face.
The shop is a dream realized by Heather, the owner and operator, who herself is an amazing story of accomplishment over seemingly insurmountable odds. Just like Heather, the baristas are friendly, knowledgeable, and are quick greet you and to assume their duty stations as soon as they hear the familiar creaking of the antique front doors. I typically receive my drink order before sitting down in my favorite spot. The coffee is always on point!
The new food menu is crafted to suit whatever your appetite may desire. From delicious pastries baked daily on-site, fresh and crisp salads paired with zesty dressings, as well as made to order artisan sandwiches grilled to cheesy perfection, there is something for every palate. My personal favorites are the almond joy cookie, the “just another salad” salad, the smoke salmon sandwich, and the 16 ounce iced americano.
This review is long overdue. I have spent a lot of time in PAX over the past two years and I have developed a strong fondness for the place and the people. It has given me a place to sit, take a deep breath, and be at peace while I take a break from the crazy world just outside it’s windows.
Finally I suggest everyone be leery of any one star reviews of PAX. I assure you their assessment is dubious at best. I encourage you to come and experience for yourself. You will...
Read morePax, you've been missing the mark for months. While the ambiance is great, the food and drinks are not well made. The last time I was there, every detail of my order was wrong. The cheese wasn't melted on the grilled cheese. Multiple things were forgotten on the order and I kept having to go up to the counter and get it myself. The beverage was mediocre. Two times ago, the coffee beverage I ordered tasted like microwaved milk with some bitter, instant coffee in it. I went up to the counter to exchange it and ordered a tea because I figured you can't mess up a tea. There was a price difference and I wasn't refunded the difference. There was no attempt at service recovery either. There needs to be some type of standard operating procedures because it seems that the same poor beverage making techniques are just being perpetuated. Starbucks and McDonald's coffee aren't that great but at least they're reliable and you know what you're getting. You never know at Pax and at those prices, I'm not willing to risk it. The last time I was there, I didn't point out all the mistakes on the order because I knew that it was truly the last time I would be there and it just didn't matter anymore. Pax, you've been spiraling for a while. I hope you can pull...
Read moreWe went into PAX last night to see if they had smoothies. They don’t have smoothies as of now, but we were told they are working on getting smoothies on the menu for the summer months coming up. This is a coffee and tea bar with a wine and beer selection, some soft drinks, and a nice food selection. This morning we came in for breakfast and tried the plain bagel with Rosemary Garlic cream cheese, cinnamon raisin bagel with Plain cream cheese, poppy muffin, carrot muffin, large chai latte, and raspberry lemonade (which we got all items for $20). The rosemary cream cheese was amazing! Their bagels are made in San Antonio and muffins I believe are made in town. I like that this is a local business that supports other local businesses! The chai latte was strong with great flavor of the spices, but I prefer mine strong so this was perfect. The raspberry lemonade was delicious as well. Overall our first visit was amazing.. everything we ordered was perfect and tasted fresh. I don’t know if prices have changed since some of the other reviewers have gone in, but they are under new management. A husband and wife team that makes it a priority to try to remember every face and name of...
