Visiting from out of town for the weekend and came here for breakfast on a surprisingly cool Saturday morning in June (today as a matter of fact). The legendary status of this little hole in the wall diner has spread far and wide across Texas, and deservedly so. The staff was amazingly friendly. We were greeted right as we walked in even though they were fairly busy. We sat ourselves at a very clean table in this very clean diner and were promptly handed menu's and drink orders were taken. Our waitress (I apologize for not getting your name, you were amazing) was very polite, friendly, accommodating and helped with any questions we had. The turn around time on getting our food was faster than a one legged man in a butt kickin' contest. All of our orders were cooked just right. Meat candy (bacon), crispy. Eggs, perfect. Omelette, delicious. Breakfast tacos, HUGE and scrumptious. French toast, delectable. Coffee, caffeinated and she never let it get even halfway empty. William Barret Travis would be proud that this little diner is blessed to be in our Great State of Texas. Definitely coming back and will always...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Hill Country Cafe is THE best place in Kerrville for breakfast and lunch. Good home cooking and the friendliest wait staff youāll find anywhere. We moved here five years ago and really lucked out to find this place. We usually eat breakfast here a couple times a week, in fact this morning we had the best breakfast tacos and coffee to go. With so many restaurants having to close all but their drive throughs, this would be a great time to call in an order. One of the sweet ladies will bring your order out right to your car...and with a smile...canāt beat that with a stick! (Just a good ole Texas saying!) Now more than ever we all need to support our local business owners. Help keep the Hill Country Cafe open. I canāt imagine Kerrville without them. Did I say the food is really good? Okay then...Iām done...except for already planning what Iāll have for my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe experience of this place beats the food and atmosphere and price combined. True to form as a small town, southern diner, the women working there were a colorful representation of good old fashioned southern hospitality. Like honey on buttered toast, they're sweet but not too sweet with just a hint of salt. Picture walking into a diner from an old movie, everything from the clientele to the decor matches right up (I walked in after breakfast and the only person there was a constable sitting in the back chatting with the waitresses). If you're a tourist it's a good stop for a relaxing breakfast, with good coffee by the way, if you're a local you should have already been here. As far as price, expect to pay what you might at an Applebee's or something similar. Lunch averages out to around...
