When I moved to Kerrville, I had no idea what to expect; I certainly didn't think there would be a theater scene. There shouldn't be. The reason there is a theatre culture that flourishes and fulfills the need of so many of the city citizens is because of the work of Jeffrey Brown and the staff of Playhouse 2000. I have performed on professional stages in three of our country's major cities. Mr. Brown's leadership, the board of Playhouse 2000, and the continued generosity of the Cailloux family create a fertilizer of theater culture you would see in cities whose budget far eclipse anything a town of 20,000 people could ever facilitate. In short, and to the point, and in real-world terms, you gotta go see shows when you come to Kerrville. They're just really really good, even the bad ones are good because you can feel how much everyone really cares about what they're doing.
