Really great little Mexican restaurant in downtown Kerrville. We hadn't been there and decided to give it a try for breakfast today. Open Sunday but closed Wednesday as I recall.
Chips were obviously made in house and the salsas (3 - red, green, & orange) were all good. The green was my favorite, spicy & tangy but all were top notch.
There were 4 of us so we could try a lot of things. Huevos Rancheros were good, home fries were not crispy but tasted good. Refried beans were very good. One of my sons had chilequiles and enjoyed them. Other son had puerco en verde and loved this version of a classic Chile Verde. My wife had a barbacoa taco and a carnitas taco. She liked both but really liked how crispy the got the carnitas. Both 1 son & I also had a pastor taco. I liked mine but he didn't like it enough to finish his.
Will definitely go back.
Quick update, returned today and did not disappoint....
Read moreI truly cannot say enough good things about Antojitos. Their food is by far the most authentic and flavorful Mexican food (and truly, I think the best irrespective of genre) in the hill country. For example, the enchiladas are made in the traditional style of "Enchiladas Rojas" as opposed to being slathered in chili con carne a la the Tex-Mex version (which is good, don't get me wrong, but nothing compared to this). The refried beans, which are always a critical component when trying a new Mexican restaurant, are hands down the most flavorful I've ever had, and the tortillas are likewise the best I've had - the corn tortillas are somehow fluffy and don't break apart while still retaining that distinct and delicious corn flavor. To top it off, it's a family operation run by incredibly friendly people. You're doing yourself a disservice if you love Mexican food and haven't...
Read moreWent here Christmas day and was happy to find somewhere open. Floors were filthy and wanted a burrito which they apparently dont make? What kind of mexican restaurant doesnt serve burritos?! So i ordered beef enchiladas which were so small with barely anything in them i could eat each in 3 bites. No flavor in them at all, no sauce on top only lettuce and they were cold in 2 bites. Ordered a sweet tea and was served a horrible unsweetened tea that taste like instant tea. The beans and rice were extremely bland and no flavor. The daughter and son who took my order were very nice and did a great job though theyd ask how it was too much and one right after the other. Not an impressive place to eat and food was less that good. Ive had frozen dinners thst...
