Monday, took my friend to Soaring Dragon đ for lunch. She hadnât been there yet and I let her know I liked the place and heard that the owner had once worked for China Town for many years and now had opened her own restaurant. We ordered an appetizer and got it within reasonable time even though they were busy. We enjoyed the appetizer and then our soups in and then ordered our lunch specials I was very much looking forward to the pineapple fried rice with chicken after approximately 45 minutes and watching people who had come way after our dining get their food, I counted 1,2,3 tables got their food and I began to wonder why. Then went to the cashier station and ask where my food was and why everyone was getting their food but us and she said there was a kitchen problem I said OK went to the table ask my friend if I was being impatient and she said maybe so I went to the restroom wash my hands came back to sit down that took approximately five minutes. I sat down for another five minutes and decided to go back to the cashier to find out exactly what was going on because the table behind us got their food and they were the last people in the restaurant sat. I asked to speak to my waiter who had not come out to say a word. When he appeared I asked him why the food had not come out yet and several tables had gotten theirs already he said there was a problem in the kitchen I said being at this is a people food business I shouldâve known this 20 minutes ago at least and I said he shouldâve come out instead of hide in the kitchen. The young man, Fernando, was not listening to what I had to say no apology he was offended and started to defend himself by saying donât come back then. So I gave him the hand and walked away disgusted and the customer service he then followed me outside. my friend had already gotten in the truck and started it and along came the owner a middle aged Asian man Who said he was the owner after explaining yet again that I should have been notified of specific problem in the kitchen and thatâs why I had not got my food and many others had and that I deserve that they still would not listen and just told me donât ever come back I then offered them a word of the bird they were offended begin to take off their aprons and challenge me to a fight I have never in my life had that kind of problem even at a bar of drunken people. Had only they listen to my side and giving me a reasonable explanation I wouldâve never had any problem in the first place and would have returned nor give this a bad review but itâs absolutely awful to be treated that way in any kind of business by the owner of the business and a...
Read moreSoaring Dragon is a refreshing take on tradition American-Chinese fair. A lot of the dishes are going to be familiar, but they are presented in new and gorgeous ways. That being said, though, the menu is absolutely gigantic. Soaring Dragon offers every thing from Chinese food, to Japanese, to even Vietnamese. I look forward to going back soon and trying the Vietnamese pho-type soup I noticed one of the waitstaff eating on her break. It looked amazing! I loved what I ordered, and even though it was on the "early bird dinner menu special", there was so much food I ended up having to take most of it home with me. My friend and I also tried the crab rangoons, which were so super great. The edamame we shared was also delicious. All in all, food wise, I was not only impressed, but super pleased with both the taste and lovely presentation of everything!. And while I know this is something of a minor detail, I think it's pretty neat that you can order brown rice instead of the traditional white rice.
The prices are a little higher than the other Chinese food places here in Kerrville, but you get what you pay for! I was really impressed with what the owners were able to do with such a small space. With the high ceilings and sleek/modern paint job, the atmosphere manages to come across as both chic and inviting. Plus, both those who decide to dress up, and those who decide to dine in more casual attire will feel at home. Honestly, I have a hard time thinking of someone who wouldn't feel right at home there. The owners obviously worked very hard to create an environment that felt both modern and comfortable, and it shows.
Finally, i just want to touch on what a great job the staff there is doing! Opening a new restaurant can be chaotic at the best of times, but the team members who helped us this evening worked as though they had been employed there for years. Sandy was our main waitress, and Stephanie helped out. There was also an incredibly nice gentleman who refilled our drinks for us, though I failed to get his name. But all three were polite, kind, knowledgeable, and fantastic.
So if you're thinking about checking out this new restaurant here in Kerrville, go ahead and give it a whirl! You won't be...
Read moreDecided to give this place a try for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with the prices on the lunch specials and the fact that you get soup and egg roll/rangoon of your choice. The two dishes that I tried were the Cashew chicken and kung pao chicken. Both dishes had fresh ingredients, prepared well and had a good taste. I did find a big problem with both dishes and that is there was no difference between them, except for red chilies and peanuts in the Kung pao. If you order two different dishes, then they should be different in ingredients, and not just by the name! Egg rolls were a little greasy, although overall good for frozen. The wonton soup was very good, however the fried rice was pretty bland and tasted like it is frozen (heat and eat), from a foodservice company. This place in my opinion gets high reviews because old people and Bubba don't know the differences!
Overall considering the other choices in Kerrville for "Chinese" food, this would be the best one in my opinion, until Panda Express đź opens in the near...
