Title: Stellar Flavors and Memorable Delights at New York Cafe Rating: ★★★★☆ Review: My recent dining experience at New York Cafe left me thoroughly satisfied and impressed. This trendy establishment not only delivers mouthwatering burgers and delectable fries but also surprises its patrons with unique flavors that elevate their culinary offerings. Let's begin with the original burgers. The taste was outstanding, and the quality of the ingredients used was evident in every bite. The patties were juicy, perfectly cooked, and had a tantalizing blend of flavors. Accompanied by a soft, toasted bun, the combination was a true delight for the taste buds. The balance of traditional elements and a touch of innovation made these burgers truly stand out. Speaking of fries, they were okay. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Not seasoned. One noteworthy item on the menu was the lamb burger, skillfully enhanced by the addition of fig jam. This surprising combination took the dining experience to another level. The succulent lamb patty paired with the sweet and tangy flavor of the fig jam created a harmonious fusion that was simply sublime. It's a marriage of flavors that will leave a lasting impression. However, it was the seared scallops that truly stole the spotlight. Expertly cooked to perfection, these delicate morsels of seafood embodied the epitome of elegance and refinement. With a beautiful sear on the outside and a tender, buttery texture inside, every bite was a heavenly symphony of flavors. The seared scallops were undeniably the showstopper of the evening. The ambiance of New York Cafe further enriched my dining experience. The dark wood rustic decor contributed to a haunting atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for friends gathering or a casual dinner date. The only reason I'm not giving it a full five-star rating is because of the slightly higher prices and the occasional waiting time during peak hours. However, the quality of the food and the impeccable taste more than compensate for these minor inconveniences. In conclusion, New York Cafe is a culinary gem that every food enthusiast should visit. The original burgers, delicious fries, and standout dishes like the lamb burger with fig jam and the seared scallops ensure a memorable and satisfying dining experience. Make sure to visit this establishment, and prepare to be impressed by their stellar flavors and impeccable service.

I’ve been coming to the New York Cafe for years and it is hands down my favorite restaraunt of all time. The menu has a wide range of options including many vegan and gluten free options. I’ve never been disappointed with anything I’ve received, or felt that I wasn’t being given food of high quality. Some of my favorites breakfast dishes are the Shackshuka, Chorizo and Eggs, and Nutella Stuffed French Toast. For dinner and lunch I really enjoy the Kebab, Local Greens Salad, Pork Belly Roll, Classic Burger, and Medi Burger! The atmosphere in the cafe is incredibly welcoming—the vibes are rustic and warm. The servers are ALWAYS on top of things! They are some of the kindest people, and are always willing to answer questions! If I’ve ever had an issue with anything at all, it’s always taken care of right away. The owners of the restaraunt are also some of the coolest people ever, and it’s clear how passionate they are about the cafe. You can tell the servers, kitchen staff, and owners put their heart and soul into this restaraunt! I will always come back here.

We heard good reviews of this place but we're very disappointed. We came here for breakfast and I ordered their Nutella french toast. Every piece of toast was burnt. I'm not usually picky with burnt however this was charred black where you can't taste anything but the burnt. I had to pick the pieces off and the inside was runny still. My fiance ordered the breakfast hash and it was very bland. The service was bad. They are quick to get you ordered and too fast because we couldnt even finish ordering before she grabbed the menues and walked off. Once we got the food they never came around so my fiance was waiting for 30 minutes to ask for bacon. By that time his food was cold. They never offered to refill coffee until we asked and never asked how to the food was. The atmosphere wasn't great either. It felt dirty inside. The floor is gross, when you look back into the kitchen you can see just black moldy looking baseboards and goo running down the walls in the kitchen. Not to mention a ton of cob webs on the ceiling and in the corners. Overall just felt dirty and there was nothing about this place that we enjoyed other than leaving.

This cafe is brisk and busy with ambience. It serves a flight of 4 regional ales, and has 6 on tap. The ones sampled were all from Denali: Mother Pale Ale, Denali Grove IPA, Single Engine Red, and Chuli Stout. The Mother was a plain and simple ale. Nothing special, but made for comfortable sipping. Denali Grove had a lovely citrusy foretaste, without being overpowering. Very satisfying. Single Engine Red was everything a red should be, with that deep malty flavour and mellow aftertaste. It isn't special, but intriguing, compelling enough for another sip. Chuli Stout gives you a dark roasted flavour. It's not sweet as some stouts and porters tend to be. It is a trifle heavy, almost old-fashioned, like a first cousin to a Guiness.

This little place is special. Quality food, local, creative and diverse. I was in town for 4 days, and was lucky enough to have both brunch and late lunch. Menu diversity makes choosing very difficult. I had shakshuka and scotch eggs for brunch. Amazing! So rare to find both of tjose on same menu, nevermind both prepared very well. Had local caught calamari and fish chowder the second trip and the chowder was hands down the best i have had in my travels in Alaska. Seasoned well, hand cut chunks of fish and veggies, in a thick but not too thick chowder. They also served it with butter on side as it should be. Great job! If i lived here i would eat here every week.

Stopped by the New York Cafe for the fish & chips and stayed for the live music. Both were really great! I had a lovely meal, sipped on wine and had a really fulfilling interaction with local artist and musician Dave Rubin. The band was great and the connections with some of the other patrons was also something to be treasured. I popped in three times over my week long stay. I spent a really productive morning eating a clean and healthy breakfast with a warm beverage and getting some writing done on my laptop, watching the clouds fade and give way to sunshine above the marina.
