Visited Crab & Go with our family on 6/19 and was disappointed to say the least.
We asked for water to start and the waitress asked us if bottled water was good. I don’t know what prompted her to serve us bottled water to begin with, and she never disclosed we would be charged for it.
We assumed bottled water was all they served so we said it was fine, until we saw from across the room the rest of our party was served water in cups… Our table ended up getting charged $2.50 a bottle.
please note, we were the first party of the day to be served and were separated from our group so we received our bottled waters before seeing that everyone else in the restaurant got cup of waters
The crab itself was good, but is served cold here. So if you prefer your crab hot straight from the steamer, I wouldn’t recommend coming here.
We were given our checks shortly after receiving our food which made us feel really rushed. Cherry on top was constantly having to ask for more butter and they would only bring one at a time considering more than one person needed more butter.
If you’re planning a cruise to Alaska — I wouldn’t recommend coming here. Please stop by Tracy’s Crab Shack in Juneau and Skagway Fish Company in Skagway. We received top notch service at the previous restaurant, the prices were cheaper and your crab will be served hot!
EDIT: The response from the restaurant is comical at best. DUH I said yes to bottled water because I wasn’t given another option when I asked for water. At least tell me you’re going to charge me for it. Second, if you’re charging almost $300 for 2 pounds of crab, I’m sure you can afford to top off butter if your customer needed it.
Skagway and Juneau have the SAME amount of cruise ships coming through their town and they don’t use that as an excuse for their poor service and as a reason to rush their customers. Do better.
Bring your own butter since it’s...
Read moreWaited in line thinking it would be a pleasant experience but they didn’t check if we were comfortable sitting outside in the cold and they sat us there outside on wobbly small table for 3. I asked to move to a slightly bigger table (still outside) and the waitress said she had to check and came back and told us it wasn’t allowed. I saw another waitress easily move another group of 3 from one table to another when they requested it but we were stuck eating in a cramped and extremely cold place. The food was also average and apparently they don’t give cutlery and we are expected to eat everything with our hands. Quite surprising that there are so many amazing reviews for this place, not sure if it’s deserving!
Edit: Appreciate the apology but we read the reviews of the establishment before choosing to visit and thus we were disappointed. I understand it was busy lunch hour but as a courtesy, I believe the server could have at least checked with us if we were comfortable in the cold. There were also seats inside that we weren’t even given the option to consider but we saw it as we made our way outside. As foreign visitors there have been many places in Alaska where we have encountered higher service standards despite huge crowds and I hope that other Asian customers will get treated better in the future. For example, yes we weren’t offered cutlery but when I did ask our waitress she said she would get it but she went over to take another table’s order while I sat there in the cold, waiting to eat. I had to ask for cutlery again from another waitress who passed by. The various things I mentioned above made us feel like we weren’t welcome to eat at this...
Read moreI am writing this review for my fine dining people and those that don’t like feeling like they are being rushed through their meal. Crab was good but after trying the one in Sitka I can tell you it won’t be the best you will have. It was also almost double what it cost in Sitka. We picked this place as it had the highest reviews of the other crab restaurants but did not fully enjoy our experience. on It is very “fast food” driven where you sit, get your food right away, and are expected to eat and go. If you want to sit and enjoy a glass of wine after your meal this isn’t your place. You will be asked how long it will take to finish your wine. I was also brought my check while eating and plates removed before my family finished eating. Seems restaurant is very busy and the feedback that I was given is they are trying to accommodate “everyone” but that isn’t my worry when I am spending almost $500 on a meal. I’m sure I’ll have another comment from business owner about how my meal was done and my children where on the phone - which is what they were doing as we were CONSUMING TWO GLASSES OF WINE - it wasn’t like I was sitting there looking out the window. So if you want expensive fast food because you are in Ketchikan only for a few hours, enjoy. You will be seated, fed, and sent out right away. Otherwise- from a crab loving person and someone who enjoys eating and relaxing with great service and drinks while I eat - this...
