Title: A Fin-Tastic Experience at Alaska Fish House! Oh my scales! Let me start by saying that Alaska Fish House had me hooked (pun intended) from the moment I entered their salty haven. This place is a hidden treasure trove for seafood lovers and taste adventurers alike! Let's dive straight into my tastebud-tickling discoveries. First off, the cod and chips were a whale of a deal! The golden-battered cod was tender and flaky, and the crispy, golden-brown chips were like little rays of sunshine in my mouth. But wait, there's more! The fries were sprinkled with smoked paprika, transforming them into a sea of smoky bliss. Seriously, I wanted to give those fries a standing ovation! But that's not all. Brace yourself, because the seafood sampler and chips took my palate on a journey to Atlantis and back. It was like having a concert of flavors dancing on my tongue! With a delightful selection of ocean treasures, each bite felt like a joyful synchronization of crispy, crunchy, and succulent sensations. I couldn't help but embark on a mesmerizing seafood symphony! Now, let me tell you about the salmon chowder, the true star of the show! This bowl of creamy, velvety awesomeness was a gift from Poseidon himself. With each spoonful, my taste buds did a happy dance. The salmon was so flavorful and tender that I swear I saw it do a little victory wiggle before melting in my mouth. It was soup-er delicious, and dare I say, the best darn salmon chowder I've ever slurped! The fishy puns aside, Alaska Fish House truly impressed me with their outstanding seafood selection and whimsical flavors. The staff was as friendly as a playful seal, and the cozy ambiance made me feel like I was dining underwater, minus the hassle of a wetsuit! So, whether you're a seafood aficionado or just looking to embark on a nautical culinary adventure, Alaska Fish House is the place to be. Prepare to be reeled in by their scrumptious cod and chips, get swept away by the seafood sampler, and sail into flavor paradise with their exceptional salmon chowder. In the words of a satis-"fish"-tion guaranteed customer, make your taste buds shout, "Hail to the fish!"

Delicious Seafood with pizazz and well-matched beers in a comfy, waterside setting. Don't let the line outside of The Alaska Fish House scare you off. It is the queue to order and, in our case, the food for to our table before I could collect the our beverages from the full bar. The operation here is well oiled! We ordered the halibut fish and chips, smoked salmon chowder, and the blackened halibut rice bowl along with a flight of beers. Everything was amazing! The halibut was lightly breaded, not battered, crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. Some of the best fish and chips I have had anywhere. The chips were tasty and fun with a barbecue dusting like you get on potato chips. These are served with a bright cilantro and lime slaw which compliments the fish and chips perfectly. The smoked salmon chowder can beat just about any seafood chowder out there. Perfect Al dente potatoes, corn round out the soup. Order the bowl because you're only going to want more and sharing is not an option at the cup level. The blackened halibut rice bowl with teriyaki sauce was an awesome surprise and really hammered home how carefully balance all of the flavors were across the entire meal. We also opted for a flight of beer. We got a pilsner, a lager, an IPA, and an amber. Each beer was very mild but tasty and all of them complimented the seafood perfectly. If I was ordering a pint to pair with the halibut, I would still go for the pilsner, but you truly cannot go wrong with any of these. I would absolutely order everything we had again. The restaurant itself is located at the very tip of the waterfront, so you get views from most of the dining room. The place was packed when we were there, but we were able to share a table with another couple and it was fine. There is a comforting, positive, and communal feel to the whole experience, so sitting with strangers even feels natural. The staff was pleasant and on point across the board. If you're in Ketchikan and you can only have one meal, The Alaska Fish House is the place to go!

Rather odd experience. The food was fine. Not sure why everyone has this place rated so high - the fries were pretty good. A nice Smokey flavor but other than that everything was just ok. The fish and chips weren’t bad- you can just find a lot better in Alaska. And the fish tacos weren’t bad -they just weren’t great either. Normally I dont really think about service too much if nothing is out of place, but there were 3 separate interactions with 3 separate staff that didn’t make us feel the most welcome. The first was when someone in our party asked if he could have his food to go after the guy taking orders had put it in the system that the order was to stay. He made it seem like he was annoyed about the change which was before the next person in line even ordered. Second weird thing was when we asked if there were any extra containers for tartar sauce to put our ketchup in. The guy said he wasn’t able to help out at the moment since there was a line in the way- if it were super packed and hard to move I might understand but that wasn’t the case. It felt like he was finding any excuse not to help. So we just found another alternative and then he later brought them and explained how he had to go out of his way to get them for us. A strange guilt trip for what felt like a reasonable request. The last one I kind of get but also I dont get. We had someone in our party of 8 who went to the pizza place next door and wanted to sit with the rest of us after she got her food. Well when she came in they kicked her out because they didn’t like that she bought Diet Coke next door but not from them. In the staff’s words, “I could have let the food pass but the drink-that’s a big no no”. So our friend ate by herself outside. It was just incredibly weird and we left feeling like they weren’t happy to have our business. Maybe it was an off day for the staff but for me it’s 3 strikes and you’re out so it’s hard to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one. Anyway, overall I wouldn’t recommend this place.

We came here last year for excellent halibut fish n chips and decided to return again this year after our trip with Baranof fishing excursions. You place your order and then they bring your order to your table with your number. We got the Halibut fish n chips, and the salmon chowder. The salmon chowder was good, but not something we would get again, especially for the price. The halibut fish n chips however are the star of the show. They are breaded with perfectly crunchy breading with a warm, moist, and flaky inside that absolutely hits the spot on a dreary Alaska day or after a day of fishing. It comes with a small coleslaw and tarter sauce (also good). Overall the price for these are a little much for how small the actual fried fish is, but for us it is worth it to know it is caught locally and fresh, also combined with the fact that it is so good. We will be back whenever we visit Ketchikan again for this win. This restaurant was recommended by our excursion (Baranof fishing excursions). They are located right on the dock. We stopped by here after our excursion and after walking up and down creek street. They were busy which was a good sign. They have indoor and outdoor seating, with a view of the marina. The employee taking our order was friendly and gave us a little sign with our order number to place on our table. We ordered one basket of the halibut fish and chips to share. It was a great snack. It came out quick and hot! It was so tender/flaky, the breading was perfect, it tasted fresh and hit the spot! The fries were great too! The tarter sauce tasted homemade and was excellent. Overall I would recommend this spot for your fresh fish needs while off the cruise ship!

The honest truth …Be prepared for long lines at peak times and possibly not having a seat. If there is one complaint, it’s not enough seating area to accommodate the long lines. When it rains / drizzles everyone wants to eat inside. There has to be a better ordering to seating process. We almost received our chowder with not having a table. Now who wants to eat a chowder standing up or cold??? And if we received the Dungeness crab without a table I would have requested it sent back to the kitchen! We did arrive with the cruise ship so lots of people in town. And when the show next door ends, lots of people want to try Alaska Fish House. Food: delicious. Dungeness crab was fresh and succulent. Pairs perfectly with the butter. We also ordered the trio fish a chips. Cod was the favorite, then salmon and halibut last (a little drier than others I have had) also tried the smoked salmon chowder which was good. Again food was great, service was friendly but seating is a problem!

I spent a day in Ketchikan and found myself wanting some local seafood. Luckily I found this place because these fish tacos were absolutely amazing. The blackened halibut with the citrusy onions/cabbage mix complemented each other so well. They honestly did not need any sauce but there was a side aoli which just added even more flavor and went great with the fries. Oh yes the French fries were so crispy and flavorful on the outside with a dense but soft potato on the inside. I went around 5pm on a Wednesday so it was super quiet at the time which I don’t mind at all. The interior was really cool and felt cozy on a cold and rainy day. The girl up front was not the most friendly or helpful but the menu is straightforward enough that it didn’t affect the experience much. There was another gentleman there who helped me out anyway and I came away feeling like I made a good choice for dinner. Overall I love this place and hope I’ll be back soon!!
