Title: A Fin-Tastic Experience at Alaska Fish House!
Oh my scales! Let me start by saying that Alaska Fish House had me hooked (pun intended) from the moment I entered their salty haven. This place is a hidden treasure trove for seafood lovers and taste adventurers alike!
Let's dive straight into my tastebud-tickling discoveries. First off, the cod and chips were a whale of a deal! The golden-battered cod was tender and flaky, and the crispy, golden-brown chips were like little rays of sunshine in my mouth. But wait, there's more! The fries were sprinkled with smoked paprika, transforming them into a sea of smoky bliss. Seriously, I wanted to give those fries a standing ovation!
But that's not all. Brace yourself, because the seafood sampler and chips took my palate on a journey to Atlantis and back. It was like having a concert of flavors dancing on my tongue! With a delightful selection of ocean treasures, each bite felt like a joyful synchronization of crispy, crunchy, and succulent sensations. I couldn't help but embark on a mesmerizing seafood symphony!
Now, let me tell you about the salmon chowder, the true star of the show! This bowl of creamy, velvety awesomeness was a gift from Poseidon himself. With each spoonful, my taste buds did a happy dance. The salmon was so flavorful and tender that I swear I saw it do a little victory wiggle before melting in my mouth. It was soup-er delicious, and dare I say, the best darn salmon chowder I've ever slurped!
The fishy puns aside, Alaska Fish House truly impressed me with their outstanding seafood selection and whimsical flavors. The staff was as friendly as a playful seal, and the cozy ambiance made me feel like I was dining underwater, minus the hassle of a wetsuit!
So, whether you're a seafood aficionado or just looking to embark on a nautical culinary adventure, Alaska Fish House is the place to be. Prepare to be reeled in by their scrumptious cod and chips, get swept away by the seafood sampler, and sail into flavor paradise with their exceptional salmon chowder.

Don't let the line outside of The Alaska Fish House scare you off. It is the queue to order and, in our case, the food for to our table before I could collect the our beverages from the full bar. The operation here is well oiled!
We ordered the halibut fish and chips, smoked salmon chowder, and the blackened halibut rice bowl along with a flight of beers. Everything was amazing!
The halibut was lightly breaded, not battered, crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. Some of the best fish and chips I have had anywhere. The chips were tasty and fun with a barbecue dusting like you get on potato chips. These are served with a bright cilantro and lime slaw which compliments the fish and chips perfectly.
The smoked salmon chowder can beat just about any seafood chowder out there. Perfect Al dente potatoes, corn round out the soup. Order the bowl because you're only going to want more and sharing is not an option at the cup level.
The blackened halibut rice bowl with teriyaki sauce was an awesome surprise and really hammered home how carefully balance all of the flavors were across the entire meal.
We also opted for a flight of beer. We got a pilsner, a lager, an IPA, and an amber. Each beer was very mild but tasty and all of them complimented the seafood perfectly. If I was ordering a pint to pair with the halibut, I would still go for the pilsner, but you truly cannot go wrong with any of these.
I would absolutely order everything we had again.
The restaurant itself is located at the very tip of the waterfront, so you get views from most of the dining room. The place was packed when we were there, but we were able to share a table with another couple and it was fine. There is a comforting, positive, and communal feel to the whole experience, so sitting with strangers even feels natural.
The staff was pleasant and on point across the board.

Read moreRather odd experience. The food was fine. Not sure why everyone has this place rated so high - the fries were pretty good. A nice Smokey flavor but other than that everything was just ok. The fish and chips weren’t bad- you can just find a lot better in Alaska. And the fish tacos weren’t bad -they just weren’t great either. Normally I dont really think about service too much if nothing is out of place, but there were 3 separate interactions with 3 separate staff that didn’t make us feel the most welcome. The first was when someone in our party asked if he could have his food to go after the guy taking orders had put it in the system that the order was to stay. He made it seem like he was annoyed about the change which was before the next person in line even ordered. Second weird thing was when we asked if there were any extra containers for tartar sauce to put our ketchup in. The guy said he wasn’t able to help out at the moment since there was a line in the way- if it were super packed and hard to move I might understand but that wasn’t the case. It felt like he was finding any excuse not to help. So we just found another alternative and then he later brought them and explained how he had to go out of his way to get them for us. A strange guilt trip for what felt like a reasonable request. The last one I kind of get but also I dont get. We had someone in our party of 8 who went to the pizza place next door and wanted to sit with the rest of us after she got her food. Well when she came in they kicked her out because they didn’t like that she bought Diet Coke next door but not from them. In the staff’s words, “I could have let the food pass but the drink-that’s a big no no”. So our friend ate by herself outside. It was just incredibly weird and we left feeling like they weren’t happy to have our business. Maybe it was an off day for the staff but for me it’s 3 strikes and you’re out so it’s hard to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one. Anyway, overall I wouldn’t...
