Now this was fun! My friends and I were in Juneau for only a short couple hours during a cruise, but we had booked a couple seats at this lumberjack show! It was so cool. The two competing teams were Americans vs Canadians, and there was a young lady narrating the competition who was the daughter of a lumberjack!
She was hilarious, really friendly and funny, had the whole crowd laughing at her jokes. There were tons of competitions, which included chainsaw events, speed-chopping (I'm probably using wrong terminology) and my favorite, the log- rolling event, where one guy from both teams tries to balance on a log floating in water, while they kick icy water at each other, and change directions of their feet rolling the log! Loser was whomever fell into the water first!
Bunch of tough, bearded dudes from both sides of the border, who made playful jabs at one another between events, all in good fun of course! The Canadian team won fair and square, and even though I was rooting for America- being a patriot, of course I did- but of course both groups were incredibly talented. It was fascinating to see them in action, it was a real fun time!
They had a great gift shop, as well, offering local snacks, stuffed animals for the kids, lumberjack themed gifts, and some books about local history and nature as well, which I loved.
Thanks for a fun time, my dudes! Keep...

The venue is accessible to anyone that uses any kind of mobility aid (wheelchair, walker, cane, scooter).
The only thing I would say is to skip the concession as it is quite pricey. You can go to a local shop and get the same items for a much better deal.
The do have some buckets hanging around for tips and the are quite comical in asking for them. The call it the Lager Fund and joke about how Ketchikan is a drinking town with a 🎣 problem. Bring some small bills if you'd like to tip!
Ketchikan is definitely a place I'd like to visit again. I'm a Summer Gal, but Alaska is definitely worth a visit and a cruise is a perfect...
Read moreFun experience for the whole family. As part of our cruise excursions, we decided to take the kids to the lumber Jack show. It was great for them. Our 11 and 7 year old were engaged the entire time and all of the performers did a great job putting on a show. My daughter was thrilled to get an autographed postcard from the lumberjacks.
If you are going to the show, I would suggest sitting on either side area. We were a bit late and ended up sitting center stage. There are a few poles that block the view. Also, the show is very geared towards two teams (US and Canadian) when you sit in the center you are not really sure which team to cheer for. Not a huge deal but it does play into the performance.
The price for tickets is on the higher end. It is expected, as this town existed because of the large tourist industry. For a family of 4 plan on spending close to $100 for the tickets. There are always upgrade options to spend more. Plan on getting to the show early for best election of seating.
While at the show you will see ax chopping, chainsaw cutting, tree climbing, sawing, and water logging completions. There is a woman who is the ringleader keeping the show moving right along and keeping the audience...
