I have ordered here many times since they opened and tried most of the menu. Sometimes the crepes have been excellent and sometimes not so much. Some of them just aren't great combinations to my tastes and sometimes even the ones I like aren't that good because of how they were prepared. Most of the sweet crepes are too sweet for me and the breakfast crepes aren't that flavorful. The savory crepes for the most part are fairly good. The wild smoked salmon and the beef with horseradish sauce (request extra sauce to spice it up) are my favorites. Sometimes the service is excellent and the place is spotless, sometimes not. It has a coffee shop atmosphere with little ambiance so I avoid eating there. You can watch the crepes being made while waiting for your order. Expect to spend 20-30 minutes ordering and waiting at a minimum, it can be even longer. No one in my circle cares to go there to wait and eat so I find myself getting orders to go and taking the crepes somewhere else. This is a problem because they hand you a crepe in a waxy paper half wrap. I've ordered up to 6 crepes to go. They put some napkins around them and stick them in a paper bag. The waxy wraps leak fiercely. The crepes get smashed all together leaking all over each other and it's very difficult to determine what kind each crepe is. So great concept, poor execution. On a good day, the crepes are excellent. Consistency is an issue. Which brings me to price - I can eat at McD's for $5.00 including consistency and good service. The prices have come down about $2 on crepes since the tourists are gone. The drinks are ridiculously over priced. I picked up a crepe and a coke last week.....It was $17.00.....It dripped all down the front of me and the crepe itself was overcooked so it was hard and stiff although the insides were good. $17 was too pricey for an overcooked, poorly wrapped lunch so I won't be headed back...
Read moreThe place is over price 4.50 for a cup of coffee 15 $ for a crepe. So we order 3 crepes and two coffees total 50,06 $ , told the guy that we will give him 6 cents , my daughter hands him three dimes and he took it all, he heard us talking in a different language so he just took advantage . Anyway it’s not about 24 cents , this place is a highway robbery NOT RECOMMENDED One more thing, at this price the restrooms were closed and not available . Went back and ask to talk with someone, I explained everything and the guy look at me that I was from a different planet. Maybe the food is good but the service is bad. This is the reply for the owner, I think you didn’t got it , I pay the price 50,06, I gave the guy 100$ and I said I will give him another 6 cents, my daughter hand him 3 coins of 10 cents , he took it all, and he short us one dollar , his change was 49 $ , I did not count the money because I trust people. I said to me , wherever he heard us talking in a different language that’s why he took the 3 dimes, but then when I discover that he took one more $ I went back, I want to talk with the manager but he was not available, so I talk with a tall guy , his answer was , “do you want your dollar back? “, What a question ? Was not apologizing or saying that he will give the 1.24$ back. I’m not getting rich and you are not getting poor with that money it’s the principle of it , food was ok and maybe that’s the price around there , I pay the price for what I get, it’s my opinion to say it expensive or not for what I get but that’s beside the whole thing. We will not have this conversation if the guy will handle the...
Read moreVery disappointing visit to the Alaska Crepe Co in Ketchikan. We stopped while in town on a cruise ship visit. My family of four ordered the salmon crepe at $23+ each. (Everything is expensive in Alaska) and the crepes, while tasty, contained very little salmon.
It took a long time for our orders to arrive and we weren't the only ones disappointed in the longer wait time. The staff were indifferent at best to any polite inquiries which they must get many times each day such as "do you have a bathroom," "any idea how long until we get our order,"? etc. And no, they don't have a bathroom.
Worst of all is their hidden "mandatory" 15% tip surcharge that shows up on your receipt once you get it after you've paid. They actually use the term "mandatory" on the receipt. On our bill this amounted to a nearly $14.00 tip! All they did was fill a crepe and hand it to us through the street window. When I approached the window after seeing this additional "mandatory" tip, I saw a small white board sign literally hidden behind two 20 ounce beverage bottles that explained that the tip wasn't mandatory and that you could state you didn't want to pay it...or wanted a lesser amount. The writing was smudged and barely legible. I wish I would have taken a picture to share, but I was so angry and just left.
Please avoid this restaurant until they can improve the food product, namely by adding more of the main protein source to the crepe, and secondly, by eliminating this bogus "mandatory" tip....
