I really want to give 5 stars but I can’t. Here’s why:
The food was excellent. I wanted to eat everything on the menu. Unique pizza toppings, and it was cooked perfectly wood-fired style. The waitress Jo was absolutely splendid, friendly, and charming. Her wine and dessert suggestions were spot on. The ambience was great and the place was comfortable.
So what’s the problem? We made a walk-in reservation for 2 at 7:15 and they said 1hr wait. No problem..it was definitely busy. I got the text saying approx 1hr. At 8:35 they still hadn’t texted us so we walked over. The hostess literally told me that if a table is available when someone walks in without a res, they will get seated over a waitlist. Um…What?!?! I curiously asked her what the point of the waitlist/reservation was then? She told me that’s just how their system works, but said I was next on the list so we waited. At 8:45 a group of 4 approached outside and discussed whether they could get a table without a reservation. Somehow they walked in, talked to the young hostess and got seated. Furious now, I bit my tongue and asked how they got seated while we were standing right there waiting for nearly 100 minutes and the hostess tried to tell me they had a reservation when I knew they did not. At this point I was steaming mad because I was hungry, was being lied to, and we realized that almost every other restaurant in town closed in 5 minutes. Just as I was about to make a scene inside the place and leave, the host (perhaps a manager or owner) offered us a table.
So everything was great…but dear lord just getting a table was so insulting it almost made the food not...
Read moreWe have always loved dining with Enoteca (Ketchum, Idaho) and have been a loyal customer since 2012. Burke Smith was the reason why we always come back, because he makes the whole entire dining experience special and the food was exceptionally excellent. It has not been the same since her and his Vita left to start their own restaurant, Cook Book (Ketchum, Idaho). We recently dine there (June 26th, 2020) with another couple, as we all understood and happy to follow their new reservation requirements due to Covid-19, we have a total of 1 hour and 45 minutes to finish our meals.. Because of Covid-19, the menus were limited and overall our meal was fairly good considering some of my favorite dishes were currently unavailable. We were done in less than 1.5 hour and our billed was close to $200 and we paid with our gift card plus cash for tips. After leaving restaurant, we received a call stating they can’t process our gift cards because of their new POS program does not give them the option to do so and they need us to pay with credit card or they cannot closeout at the end of the night. I personally went back and paid with my credit card and also left a writing messaged for Adelaide to give me a call because we are very disappointed the ways things were handled. As of July 4th, still no call from Adelaide. So, if you have gift card and planning to pay meal with it. MAKE SURE THEY HONOR IT and DO NOT let them make you feel like it’s your problems and not theirs. Moving forward, I will tell everyone to never get gift card from Enoteca because they obviously clueless about it. Very...
Read moreWent January 2025. Not as good as last time (April 2024).
Menu was way less interesting than last time and nothing really caught my eye. Previously I had ostrich and was hoping for something unique. There were 5 of us and we opted for an appetizer, 3 pizzas and one spaghetti and meatballs. 2 of the 3 pizzas were really good, the 3rd was super bland. The Italian red wine options were limited and the waitress could not make any real recommendations (red flag). When you are getting pizza, you don't need crazy wine, just good pairing, but the one the waitress pointed to is $135. Ok cool, we got it, but a mismatch between pizza and that wine. Maybe if we were having ostrich this would make sense, but a server should be able to help us find a good pizza level bottle for half of this price with ease.
The server was very busy and hard to track down for most of the time and it is likely that they were understaffed 50% for servers. She did have a little bit of a don't give a s* attitude, but that's expected if she's understaffed.
Bill ended up being a little over $300 before tip which is insane for pizza and...
