While strolling downtown Ketchum on a Sunday we noticed several places were closed for lunch but ran across Warfield Distillery & Brewery's. Located in the heart of Ketchum, ID was a nice find. On Sunday afternoon the main restaurant was not open but their patio deck was. This brewpub has not only distinguished itself with its delectable brews and distilled spirits, but also with a robust food menu that strikes a harmonious balance between classic comfort food and innovative gastronomic creativity.
The standout dishes for this visit were their Brussels Sprouts and Hamburger, both of which significantly exceeded expectations.
The Brussels Sprouts were a revelation. This underappreciated vegetable has been revitalized in a way that may convert even the most ardent sprouts skeptics. Roasted to a crispy perfection, they were perfectly balanced, neither too soft nor too hard. What truly set them apart was the unexpected harmony of the sweet and tangy glaze coupled with the delicate hint of smokiness. The use of fresh, high-quality ingredients was self-evident, and each bite was great with a balsalmic finish.
The Hamburger, a classic staple of any brewpub, was likewise a satisfying experience. The beef patty was cooked perfectly to a juicy medium as ordered, maintaining the ideal balance of texture and flavor. Complemented by fresh, crispy lettuce, ripe tomatoes, sharp cheddar cheese, and a secret sauce that added a tangy kick, it all came together beautifully in a soft, slightly toasted bun. It was stacked with applewood bacon that gave it a great balance and flavor. The fries were crispy and tasty and we couldn't stop eating them with catsup and frie sauce.
On the beverage front, both the beers and spirits showed off Warfield's skilled craftsmanship and dedication to quality. I enjoyed a Short Pants beer and my wife had their house Chardonnay that she enjoyed. The casual bar on the second floor deck was welcoming and gave you views of the downtown. The atmosphere of the brewpub was warm and welcoming, with attentive service that added to the overall positive experience.
In conclusion, Warfield Distillery & Brewery is a must-visit when in Ketchum, ID. Their mouthwatering Brussels Sprouts and solid Hamburger, paired with a drink from their extensive selection, make for a memorable culinary experience. Despite the burger's lack of a distinctive edge, the overall quality of the food, beverages, and service makes this a destination worth...
Read moreDecent stop, but somewhat of a letdown from reading all the glowing reviews of this place. My main concerns are:
Food is extremely overpriced IMO. Best "bang for buck" here seems to be the Warfield Pork Sandwich coming in at $16, lots of pork that you can eat with a fork before eating the entire burger. But besides that, most of the real menu items (even appetizers) are just too damn high.
Beer selection (specifically IPA) and taste wasn't that impressive. Perhaps IPAs aren't the main attraction here, but none of them were on the level of Mother Earth (Nampa, ID) and Revision (Reno, NV), which I view as the somewhat "local" gold standard for IPA.
Beer "flights" or lack thereof. First time I've been at a brewery where you can't pick and choose your own combination "flight" of beers, but instead given a single choice of a pre-selected flight (which is a combo of Ales, Lagers, Stouts).
Not a big deal, but it seemed like most of the times I've been in Ketchum, this place was closed for "private events". Felt like this was an exclusive club, and once I finally caught the place NOT closed for a private event, the food and beer didn't meet the hype.
The interior and atmosphere inside were the biggest perks of coming here, 2nd story bathroom was clean. I was visiting in the winter, so the upstairs balcony wasn't open, BUT the real wood fireplace near the bar area made it extremely cozy inside.
Overall, not saying to skip this place, but clearly wasn't my favorite....
Read moreUpdate: Adam the GM at the Warfield reached out to us after the event and apologized for the inconvenience. We were refunded our ticket and assured that our story would be brought up in the next managers meeting. He was very kind and helpful in the situation. In my original review, I didn't mention the food or drinks, so I thought I'd let everyone know the food was excellent. We got the calamari, chicken sandwich and Warfield burger. I also upgraded my fries to the shoestring truffle fries. Everything was delicious. Very happy with the food. I also got a long island iced tea which was excellent as well. And I'm sure if the situation was different and the water pipe hadn't erupted, the service would've been fine. However, the GM & Warfield has taken my experience into account to ensure that they improve in the service department as well.
Original review: Just went to the Warfield with my wife and friends. We’re here on vacation and 10mins into sitting down a pipe burst above us causing water to seep through the ceiling and onto the floor. We moved to a booth but before the food came out, they told us we had to leave. They had the audacity to ask us to pay full price for the food after boxing it up all to go. It’s snowing outside. Where are we going to eat our food? Horrible experience. I understand a pipe bursting is out of your control, but the customer service...
