Gionino's Pizzeria of Kettering — Restaurant in Kettering

A REALLY good round Ohio Valley style pizza (imo). We had the traditional pepperoni (as we always do when eating at a new pizza place the first time) and the mac and cheese pizza. We also got the Gionino garlic cheese bread which we used as a replacement for our typical bread stick order. The crust on the pizzas was good, slightly chewy (in a good way for Ohio Valley style pizza) and went well with the mozzarella and pepperonis. The Mac and cheese pizza was sweet, savory and something we will certainly get again. Very creamy, heat’s back up very well for leftovers IF YOU HAVE ANY.. the real winner imo was the Gionino’s garlic cheese bread. The flavors were VERY pronounced and it didn’t feel like cheese pizza without the sauce like many others do. Well seasoned and very cheesy. Staff was AMAZINGLY friendly and attentive. The only real knock is no seating at that particular location. Overall, we will go again. I give restaurant as a whole the 4stars. The pepperoni gets a 7.5 on the Goss Family PizzaRating Scale (GFPR), the Mac and cheese gets an 8.3, the garlic bread we score 0-10 and this got a solid 9. Congrats and good luck to your restaurant. Pizza, chicken and jojo's! Pizza is good, chicken is always juicy and the jojo's are crispy and fluffy inside.

Edit: 5/21/2023 order. Updated rating based on recent visit. I ordered a pizza and 8 piece chicken, the pizza was greasy and the thin crust was undercooked. They were out of breasts and substituted what seems like a few wings (4?). Do four wings equal a breast? Not in my book! They did call, but I had my phone on mute so I didn’t get to talk to the manager. My wife picked up the order, but I would have refused the substitute and just had them reimburse me. They did make an effort, which is nice, but it would take a lot more to make up for the missing breast. Not happy. Frankly it makes me doubt I will order...

Food was average at best. Pricing was high for the quantity received. The coleslaw was better than most. The counter personal are disinterested and give appearance of being bothered and short on time to serve you. It was my first and probably last time I will patronize this establishment. The pizza was under cooked, the crust was doughy and not even cut all the way through. The toppings were not that plentiful. The sub, a ham and cheese was cold and was not offered for it to be hot. Not the bang for the buck I was hoping for. It is close to where I live and could have been my go to place. This is a chain and not local.
