First and foremost, the environment is absolutely beautiful. The people working here and very kind but my experience here was negative. I went with a party of 4 people (myself included), we all ordered and when the food came out I was missing my order and my cousin was missing one dish as well. While I watched my family eat and enjoy their food, I waited patiently for my food. After 20 minutes, I checked on my food and the other dish we were missing. I spoke to the manager and she said that she is working on the food and it will be out shortly. After 15 additional minutes went by, I asked her again and she once again said that she was just finishing up my dish and the other dish. Once my family was done eating, the manager came by to let me know that she did not have grits in order to do my shrimp and grits tacos. She did offer me tacos with just shrimp but I said no due to the fact that my family was done and I had been sitting for over an hour. We wanted to explore the town. I never once got upset at my server or the management despite being completely forgotten about then lied to twice. I just simply asked for the bill, once I got the bill everything was wrong. The manager had charged me for another tables food, dinks we didn't order, and EVEN the food I didn't receive. I still did not get upset, I just told her what needed to be changed and she changed it. At the end, her and I were talking and she said that it was their FIRST day of business. She never once apologized to me and to lie to my face was very disrespectful. As a server myself, I am EXTREMELY disappointed in how I was treated. I watched everyone around me eat, and I left a restaurant hungry. Then to make matters worse, she lied to my face. Management really needs to do better here. I hope that they treat people with more respect, a simple apology would've went a long way. My family did say the food was great and I do regret, not trying their food and just waiting patiently for mine. She had 3 times prior to tell me that she couldn't complete my dish but she chose to tell me at the very last minute and...
Read moreMy family and I were looking for Cuban in Key West and came across this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Once I entered, I felt like I was transported into a little Cuban town. There was lots of color and funky designs. The overall theme was to pay homage to Mexican artist Frida Khalo. The restaurant had many Frida motifs that made the place rather endearing. The food was mostly fried showing the obvious connection to Khalo (Frita/Frida). The dishes were all Cuban and a number of them were Cuban fusion (Cuban Bahn Mi, Cuban local fish Reuben, arepa, tacos, and Cuban-inspired burgers). I ordered the top-selling Frita Burger and Cuban Avocado and Pineapple Mango Salad. The food was all delicious. I ordered the Frita Burger, a beef and pork patty seasoned with garlic and Spanish spices topped with onion, frita sauce with a topping of julienne potato on a fresh Cuban roll. As we ate our meal, classic Cuban music chimed through the restaurant thus further transporting us to the Cuban homeland. Since this place was far from a fancy restaurant (thank God it had air-conditioning on a 90° day), our total bill even with ordering two beers was very reasonable. This place gave us a lot of bang-for-the-buck while laying it heavy on both Cuban culture and flavor. Also, the service was...
Read moreWe were looking for some cuban food and found Frita's right down the street. Frita's is absolutely amazing, from the atmosphere, the service, to the amazing food! Henry is an amazing young man. So thankful, kind and courteous. Everyone working at Frita's was so very humble. Having Henry as your server makes the experience at Frita's that much better.
The food was out of this world. The flavors were bursting your taste buds, and exploding with every bite. Each day we stopped we tried something new and it never disappointed. Each menu item just kept getting better.
The original Frita Burger with egg is a go to choice, the Arepas are out of this world, the beans and rice with plantains is so on point that you will crave this everyday. Birro Tacos were the best we have ever had. The consume had our tastes bud explode with joy. The tamales were so flavorful it is hard to describe. The masa was seasoned perfectly, then one order we added pork and that was next level. The pork was so tender, juicy and succulent. The flan was a subtle sweet treat. Such depth of flavor in each bite.
This is Key West's best place for Cuban food. Highly recommended to stop in and enjoy not only the food, but the staff...
