High pressure sales tactics really ruined this for me. I wanted to look at the art, but the pushy sales woman asked me what piece of art I liked best between 4 pieces on the wall and when I responded, she took me and the piece of art into a little room to look at it under better lighting. She asked me if I'd like a water or a soda or a glass of wine. I asked for a water, but she insisted on getting me wine. I didn't want to be rude, so I accepted the wine. Then she decided to show me a couple of pieces that were nothing like the first and introduced me to the artist, which was really nice and I enjoyed talking to him. After he left the room, she started to pour me more wine, which I refused and then she really started to sell me one of the pieces by the artist I just met. I told her I'd think about it, but she kept coming down on the price and telling me what a deal it was and she'd just wrap it up for me. I said no several times. Then she went to get the manager to help sell the art. I told him I was not going to buy anything on impulse and he let me go. I didn't get a chance to look around the whole gallery because she was on me like a used car salesman and that was really disappointing because it was my first trip to the Keys and my time...

I’ve been living in South Florida for 23 years and I’ve been visiting Key West since I was a little girl. This was the first time that I’ve ever felt so disrespected. When I walked into the gallery on February 23, 2020, I was with my boyfriend. There were a few other customers in the back of the store that were left unattended. However, as my boyfriend and I proceeded to try to enjoy the art pieces on display, we noticed that the gallery associate was following us. Literally standing 3 feet away from us the entire time. Meanwhile, there were other customers in the rooms in the back of the gallery who were left unattended. We immediately realized what was going on, felt uncomfortable, and left. I believe the associates name was Barbara. She is a taller, middle aged woman, average/husky build, with red/brown hair. We ended up spending our money elsewhere, which was a lot considering we originally planned to spend money at Wyland and their pieces are not cheap. Such a shame because the art gallery is beautiful. However I must say that Key West in general is not what I remember it to be at all. It feels as if the city isn’t welcoming of “certain people” anymore. If you know...

Beautiful and breathtaking artwork, but staff is not very friendly. Came across very short and stern repeating that pics were not to be taken. As tourists, of course we were excited, but adhered after the first time it was mentioned. It was the semi disgusted facial expression and feeling of being watched while repeating that pics were not to be taken was what did not sit well. We entered with the hopes of finding something we could purchase to bring back home in memory of such a wonderful trip, but then changed our mind. Not because of the rules, simply because of the unnecessary attitude we were given. This picture could be posted, but truly does not represent the beautiful pieces inside. The place was full of color. I did love the mermaid table. Word of mouth advertisement is real, and sales come from sharing others work. Customer service is still very real, also. Just something to consider when people visit your establishment. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Yesterday we were visiting Key West and happened to stumble up Wyland. We decided to go inside because of the beautiful dolphin statue and pirate ship piece. After walking around for 5 minutes, one of the workers told us we couldn’t take photos. About halfway through we asked the same worker how we’d go about purchasing a piece of art. He told us that we could go on their website to find the price of whatever we were interested in and wasn’t helpful or nice about it. After leaving I went to their website and can find no information on the pieces there. You have to do an Artwork Inquiry and jump through hoops. I truly believe he didn’t take us serious and wanted us to go on a goose chase. I guess you have to be dressed a certain way to get any good customer service from this place.

What a pleasure to tour this gallery! The work is beautiful and interesting. Wyland and several of his favored artist friends share this space. A number of pieces are fantastical, and require long looks to unwrap the layers of their work. Wyland himself has expanded to new mediums including sculpture. I love his paintings best, particularly the dolphins who seem to carry permanent smiles. The staff is super nice and welcoming and not judgy or imposing.
