We had high hopes based on the reviews but we were very disappointed. Our party of 5 arrived for dinner around 5:30 and the restaurant was relatively empty except in the bar area. We were seated in the back in a 'caboose'. It was very quaint. We ordered appetizers and dinners. The appetizers were decent and came in 10-15 minutes. However, after an hour, we still didn't have our dinners. All the while, 2 tables with 5+ people who arrived after us got their appetizers and dinners. We had the same server. We checked in with the server about our meals. She dismissively replied the kitchen was backup and everyone was waiting for their meals and quickly left. We did not appreciate the outright lie as the people who came long after us were served. The meals came shortly after our inquiry. However, our meals were lukewarm at best. It seemed the meals had been sitting under the heat lamp for quite a while. The baked potato was hard and barely warm, the bottom bread of the pastrami sandwich was completely soaked through with juice, the alfredo and spaghetti sauces had a haze on it indicating it's been sitting for a while. We informed our server about the food. She was frustrated and again blamed the kitchen even after we pointed out the indicators of food had been sitting around for a while. She did offer to remake the food. We decided to pass and took our business to Choice's. We wasted 1.5 hours. I wanted to give the manager the heads up to our experience before I write this review. Unfortunately, after 10 minutes of waiting, we left because we were very hungry. We will not be back. There are restaurants with much better trained servers...
Read moreA few years ago, I visited this restaurant with my elderly mother. We parked in a handicap spot right up front, as she had the proper placard displayed. Our beloved bullmastiff was in the car with the windows open, happily enjoying the fresh air. Upon arrival, we were greeted—not so warmly—by a less-than-diplomatic host who bluntly told us to move the car to the far end of the parking lot. My mother suggested we leave, and in hindsight, I wish we had. But, foolishly, I decided to stay.
After relocating the car, we went inside for what turned out to be an utterly mediocre meal. The hamburgers were overpriced and uninspired—let’s be honest, Five Guys does a much better job for far less money. In fact, there is a Five Guys in Rutland about 20 minutes away. Adding to the disappointment, we quickly discovered that the restaurant doesn’t offer refills on soft drinks. Really? Is this your brilliant business model?
The food, the service, the overall experience—none of it was worth the time or money. And to top it off, after I posted a review on Google detailing my disappointment, it mysteriously vanished. If this is a family-run restaurant, I can only be grateful I don’t have this family as my neighbors. And if this is somehow the "#1 restaurant in Killington," it must have been the only contender in the race.
Sure, the place looks quaint, but do yourself a favor—go next door or anywhere else. It has...
Read moreFound this place in June last year and fell in LOVE with their service and food. Specifically, their pork belly Mac and cheese. It had pork belly, sautéed onions, and a delicious bacon jam making it stand out from their regular mac by a long shot. It was so phenomenal, I ordered 2 to go and came back again during my visit! I went back recently while I was in VT (was so excited to come back!) and saw the price had actually increased since just June, but it was a small price to pay for the deliciousness that was this specialty Mac and cheese. However, I was so saddened to see that they actually removed most of the components of this dish, leaving it to be just their classic Mac and cheese with sparse pork belly. For $25, an extra 5 dollars compared to the plain mac, I was very disappointed as this was something I raved about to all who would listen, and I couldn’t wait to get back and have it. I did also notice that the portion was noticeably different as well in comparison to the price point. We ended up paying 100+ for each of us to get a mac and a drink + standard tip, which was very pricey. My husband and I agreed the original dish was one of the bests we ever had, anywhere. Otherwise, the atmosphere was (as always) nice and welcoming, despite it being peak for skiing season. The servers are always so kind and service is...
