We did a vermont ski honeymoon in 4 different vermont towns, and snowed inn was our last stop on our honeymoon in killington. We really enjoyed it.
PROPERTY So cute! Clean, very cozy, furniture all looks fresh. Great layout. They have a fireplace in the common area and several nooks to have some hangout time and it was just lovely and very hallmark movie type stay so cute. We stayed in the sapling room and it was lovely. Yes small but we knew that upon booking, it was accurately displayed from the online booking which I appreciate. Clean, everything worked, they have roku streaming apps, I can only imagine how awesome their bigger rooms with fireplaces are! They also have a little area to put your skis and a few boot/mitten dryers which is a real luxury touch.
HOT TUB Loved their system, you get to reserve a 30 minute slot for your private use. It was never an issue getting a time slot each afternoon after we got back from skiing and really was nice. What a great idea and system.
FOOD Breakfast was delicious each day, loved having our own little table every morning. They also have wine and beer for purchase (outside alcohol is not prohibited in common areas), they also have some snacks like some pizzas, charcuterie, etc you can purchase as well if you need a snack which is appreciated! You can bring your own take out and they allow you to use their plates and etc to eat in the dining room which is so nice.
There is a 24/7 self service little coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar with all the accoutrements, and it is fabulous!! I really enjoyed this. They also put hot cookies near it sometimes in the afternoon and loved that.
They have a microwave and fridge available for guest use which is appreciated if you have leftovers for a restaurant etc. so convenient. And bring a reusable water bottle as they have a great water station to refill your water bottle.
BOARD GAMES Have all their pieces! And a really nice selection. And are in great condition!! Really important in case it rains. You'd be surprised other places we stayed on our vermont tour didnt have all the pieces so were not playable and it was annoying. They had all their pieces and were in great condition which was a big plus.
STAFF The owners were so nice, perfect amount of hospitality and privacy at the same time. I felt comfortable asking for anything I may need and I liked that they explained how things works when we checked in (ie about hot tub reservation, breakfast ordering, coffee/tea station) so I felt comfortable using the entire place. They made our stay celebratory which we really appreciated, it's the little things that really go along way to a memorable stay. Thank you.
KILLINGTON We love the killington mountain - great terrain variety. The hotel is very close to the mountain and all restaurants. Great location. We really enjoy Garlic we went twice with no reservation and sat in the large bar area (first come first serve bar and tables) - penne vodka, the lamb appetizer, shrimp appetizer, all are delicious. We went to liquid arts right down the road from them another dinner night (you could walk technically it's that close). We liked that place as well - food was good but garlic has more of a buzzy restaurant vibe and would just go there every night honestly it was so good if we come back.
Would stay again in a heartbeat if we ever come back to vermont and would recommend to all our friends. Early 30's couple, well...
Read moreWe chose to stay at The Snowed Inn because of its 5-star rating, but it didn’t meet expectations. The property setting was charming, with its location in the woods and a stream, but the overwhelming pumpkin spice scent as soon as we entered the house was off-putting—like a mix of Michael's Craft Store and Dunkin' Donuts. After a long drive, I just wanted a shower, but first, we had to go through a list of "house rules," with the chatty manager, who doesn’t let you get a word in edgewise. Some of the “house rules” included filling out breakfast forms, telling us to label food in the shared fridge if we had any, and rushing for cookies at 4 pm before they were gone.
I was also under the impression that breakfast was homemade, but it wasn't—store-bought quiche crusts, store-bought cookie dough, and fake cream, all laden with preservatives and artificial ingredients. We were then shown to our tiny room with no real storage, and no heat in the bathroom, freezing + uncomfortable. The towels were thin, rough, and small and felt like I was drying myself off with sandpaper. That night, we couldn't sleep due to the lingering pumpkin spice odor and bright parking lot lights outside our window which did not have blackout shades. The window treatments they had on the window were insufficient. Seriously, the owners & manager should sleep in this room & see if they would pay to do so, I doubt it. The rug was filthy, and the bottom sheet on the bed was dirty. The pillows were rock-hard, adding to our discomfort. Welcome to a sleepless night.
Given the price of over $300 a night, $331 to be exact, we decided we could not stay. In hindsight, I should have asked to see the room before booking it. FYI, it’s called the Sapling Room & we were reminded several times by the chatty manager that “it was the cheapest room in the house.” I just noticed that they do not show photos of THIS room on their website! The manager said the owner would have to decide whether to refund us, and he did so, graciously. Thank you for that. We found a much better hotel with a lower star rating, which should definitely be higher! Our room was three times the size of the one at The Snowed Inn, we slept soundly in a comfortable king size bed with soft sheets, soft pillows, large soft towels, as many as we wanted, real homemade breakfast, no weird smells- all for two-thirds of the price. The moral of the story? You can't always trust the ratings you see online but maybe I am pickier than most and have higher expectations. REPLY TO YOUR RESPONSE: Yes, I acknowledge — and appreciate — that you graciously issued a refund. Did you catch that? However, the review you dismissed as "nonsensical" makes perfect sense to both me and my husband. In our experience, your place had an unpleasant odor, the food did not meet our standards, and the overall condition of the room was far from welcoming. The towels were poor in quality, and the rug and linens were noticeably filthy. It doesn’t have to make sense to you — it was our honest and personal experience. As the owner, it's understandable that you might not agree, but that doesn’t change...
Read moreWe recently spent a long weekend at the Snowed Inn. It epitomized the magical ski weekend we were looking for!! Why?? First, is it located perfectly at the base of the Beast of the East, Killington. It is just off the access road where all the great eateries and night spots are located. Most importantly is its proximity to the slopes, mere minutes either by shuttle or car. Secondly, the property is personification of a skier optimized lodge and experience. The first impression included a cozy and rustic lobby with unique local Vermont touches/appointments and a big 2-sided fireplace. Common areas include ski storage, boot warmers and a shared kitchenette. All located just off the lobby. A cozy little bar in the lobby offers drinks, pub like dinner menu and a place to meet other guests and staff. Hot cocoa, tea, and coffee is available 24-7. Out of this world breakfast options, all made fresh daily are offered every morning. Breakfast is served in a cute little breakfast area in the lobby. The scent of freshly made breads sneaked their way up to our room in the morning and singled it must be close to our reserved breakfast time. Each morning, we had an assigned table and all we had to do was pop down, grab our coffee, and plop down at our table. It was an awesome way to start your ski day and could only be described as, “a big hug”.
The rooms were perfect with great beds, appointments, hot water, and things like boot warmers. We especially enjoyed the in-room fireplace and large jacuzzi tub. Of note, there is a great hot tub outside off the first floor that we reserved to soak our tired bones after a long day of skiing. We didn’t have to share it with others which is excellent as we processed our day. The Snowed Inn is a phenomenal product across all categories. However, the true secret sauce and differentiator are the proprietors and loyal staff. Carolyn and Ken who are the owners are outstanding. Their touches, attention to detail, engagement with the guests, relentless pursuit to exceed customers’ expectations, and direct involvement with guests as well as staff ensures that your experiences is world class. In addition, their loyal and excellent staff of Susan and Laura make sure that details are not overlooked, things flow smoothly, food is delicious, and all needs are met. We absolutely loved our experience and are already...
