We love this place. Yesterday, was not a great experience. We were hangry when we got there for starters. We ordered sodas, and an appetizer to start. The mushrooms that were to be stuffed with crabmeat. Honestly they tasted very little like crabmeat and more like it was mixed with cooked tuna. Then we waited, and waited, and my husband drank another soda. So we asked, another person working if she could check on our order, and waited again she passed by but never came to let us know. Then we saw what we thought might be our dinner, no it was the entire order for the people who had come after us with a party of 4, it was just 2 of us. So,we then see what looks to be headed toward us was our food. My hubby, now full on liquid, but I'm starving, is a bit irritated because it was nothing we ordered."we should have just kept it". Then we waited and waited, when they took the food back apparently it was not mentioned that we didn't get our order. I had my Cc on the table because we are now late for our plans. A different waitress came over and asked if we were all set to pay, I looked and said we'd like our food first, she then went to check, came back and said they were just plating our food. Mind you My husband ordered a wrap and I got fried fish n fries. Finally our waiter came and apologized and of course blamed the kitchen, I've worked in several restaurants it is the easiest response. So I looked at our bill, loyalty customers 10% off, when our waiter came back, Apparently he gives that every time because, we got that and him our first time here a couple weeks ago. This waiter is great and has an awesome personality. He did go MIA during this whole thing was going on even to the point we asked if our waiter had left, and thought maybe that was why the mix up, nope he's still here...humm No one offered us anything and we were polite each time. Perhaps if we made a scene and or were belligerent a manager, owner, someone would have come over and comped some if not all, or even offered a dessert. We both have been in the restaurant field. I was totally surprised. We asked for a box within 10 min of them...
Read moreWhen we arrived, we were told a 20-25 minute wait with a suggestion to pass the time in the attached gift shop or game room. The gift shop has usual ski town merch, and we enjoyed the reasonably priced games. We got seated about on schedule; the waiter took our order and brought out our appetizer quickly (delicious wings). Unfortunately, at that point, there was an extremely long delay. The server came by several times to apologize and let us know that she was keeping track of the progress of our order. It took a little more than an hour after the apps for our food to come out. Some of it was warm, but a lot of it was cold-- like it had been sitting out for over half an hour. (We weren't the only patrons who had to wait a while)
As for the food, the rice was tasteless, even after we sent it back to be reheated. The salmon was lukewarm, so didn't express much flavor. The veggie burger burrito and Philly cheesesteak were worthy efforts, and we took the leftovers home. The highlight of the evening was the steak with maple glazed Brussels sprouts--top notch.
They did give us a discount for the "kitchen error" , but what was inexcusable was that the men's room had no hand soap for the entire duration of our stay, despite us complaining about it and requesting they refill it. That is a huge health risk, not just for guests using the restroom, but for everyone if employees can't wash...
Read moreAfter many trips to Killington, Vermont, and hearing about The Lookout Tavern, I was always skeptical about trying it. I assumed it might be a typical tourist trap, especially after seeing their polished video commercial in the New England Ski Journal a few years ago. However, today I finally decided to give it a try with my daughters and niece, and I have to say—I’m so glad we did!
At first glance, the place looks tiny, which only added to my initial doubts. But from the moment we walked in, the staff was pleasant, attentive, and we were seated quickly. The service was prompt, and the staff made us feel welcome right away.
Now, onto the food—outstanding! We ordered classic tavern fare: burgers, sandwiches, wraps, and chicken wings. Nothing fancy, but everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. The atmosphere was lively and fun, making for a fantastic dining experience. And despite being a popular spot, the prices were surprisingly reasonable.
Overall, I was extremely impressed and super delighted. This is definitely a place I’ll be going back to the next time I’m in Killington—which happens about ten times a season. It’s totally worth a visit for great food, friendly service, and a vibrant atmosphere. Highly...
