Willie Jewell's Old School Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Kingsland

OLD SCHOOL YUM!! We were visiting my boyfriend's family in Georgia and we were looking for a place to meet them for lunch. When I read reviews on various websites, I was hoping they would pick this place. When you first walk in there is a board to order off of. The only thing that I do not like about that is when there are several people behind you, you tend to feel rushed and don't get a chance to really see the menu and all its offerings. But we already had an idea what we wanted. The wings were suggested (plain and simple) so you can enjoy the "sauce bar" They have some delicious sauces. I only wish I had bought some to bring back to Florida.

We ordered the platters, which was way more food that we could handle especially after eating 6 chicken wings a piece. 2 meat combo of pulled pork and beef brisket was delicious. Full of flavor and so tender. The collards and fried okra were full of southern style goodness. The staff are all very friendly. There is not really waiter/waitress ordering (just bring the food out and refills of drinks) but they are very attentive and they even gave my boyfriend a free beer after we had already paid for our group. He would not take the money, so we just left extra in the tip to cover it.

We will definitely be back whenever we are in Kingsland, GA. Heard they are building one in Yulee. What caught our eye was the $1 Yeungling drafts advertised on a billboard. This place is the way that BBQ was...

Meats: 7.2/10 – The brisket was excellent, with a bold, flavorful taste and incredibly tender texture. The chicken stood out even more, featuring a rich smoky flavor and an exceptional level of tenderness, making it one of the most well-prepared smoked chickens around.

Sides: 6.6/10 – The baked beans had a good flavor, though nothing too extraordinary. The mac and cheese was very good, with a creamy and satisfying texture. The onion rings were fresh and crispy, adding a nice crunch to the meal.

We thought when they got new owners everything would get better. We just left this horrible place and will never return we don't care how many owners it gets. My husband and I got so sick while there. My husband was out of it completely and the food ran right through me while we were there and through my husband when we got home. We believe it was their stringbeans because we both had stringbeans and said these stringbeans has a lot of salt and pepper in them. Told the waitress and she said that they have one lady that's all she cooks with is salt and pepper and they tasted old cause they had no crunchto them. Well let me tell you this all of you that work in these places everybody can't have salt and if you are gonna cook with those ingredients you need to tell your customers. This will never happen ever again because we will never come back EVER. People do not look forward to a meal out to get sick from anybodys food. Shame on you Willie Jewels you dropped the ball. Not impress at all. This is the last time that we will ever step foot through those doors or any of Willie Jewels...
