I originally reviewed Moss Bay Hall when they first opened and was willing to cut them some slack due to the hurdles of opening a new business and gave them 4 stars at the time. However its been several months since then so I feel they should have ironed out the kinks. After my most recent visit, I feel I have to update my review and remove a star. Besides one visit where our server was attentive, the service has been remarkably slow.
This latest time, I entered the main door and stood by the "Please Wait To Be Seated" sign while several employees milled around, 2 of them standing talking at the counter, none of them even acknowledged me. After finally making eye contact, I told them I was looking for a table and they told me to sit wherever didn't have a reservation sign. OK, fine, I'm not sure why the sign was there.
Later when colleagues joined me, we were able to get our drink orders in relatively smoothly, but after that our server disappeared for long bouts. People sat with empty drinks for a long time wondering where our server went. We had to eventually go order drinks at the bar to get refills. When it came time for me to pay my check, I had to chase my server down when I saw her walking through the restaurant.
I didn't order food this time, but other people at the table gave mixed reviews on theirs--some saying that it looked better than it tasted. I'll say I've enjoyed the pretzel and cheese curds in my previous visits.
Also, I'll echo (hah) the other complaints about how noisy it is. You have to shout to talk to somebody on the other side of the table. Please, management, if you read this, add some acoustic dampening to the ceiling! And enough of the loud...
Read moreRecently was at Moss Bay Beer Hall to celebrate St. Patricks Day. I was excited because we got a great table and were by the open air windows. We ordered a round of drinks and finished them, which was then followed by a long period of waiting as our server went about their business at the bar, failing to acknowledge us. We finally after speaking to 3 individuals were allowed to order theough the bar manager. I ordered the Korean Bulgogi burger and asked for the bacon to be taken off as I haven't eaten pork in close to 6 years and is one of my diatary restrictions. The burger came and unfortunately had bacon, or pork, on it. I gave the burger back to the bar and asked for it to be replaced with the same burger just one that didn't have pork on it. A few minutes later with the burger still sitting on the bar an individual with a, "The Hall" shirt on grabbed the burger and started offering it up to patrons at the bar stating, "This thing looks pretty good, do you want it, it looks fine." As he walked by me I stated to him that, I didn't find it funny that he was flaunting my burger around like it was a joke that he had just fed pork to someone, that didn't want it and couldn't eat it. To which he responded with, you're not welcome here anymore. "Eat your fixed burger and get out of here..." He said, "This is my establishment," he continued, "I don't care, I didn't put pork on your burger it's not my fault." I have gone here since the opening to support this new business, and it saddens me that I have to report this in this way but it is the truth of the matter, and how this owner feels it's ok to treat his patrons. I've never been treated like this by anyone let alone the owner of an...
Read moreVisited MBH twice now; once just my partner and I, and again with our friends.
As new residents of Kirkland from Seattle, we were very excited to have a local version of Queen Anne Beerhall to visit frequently, however, we probably won’t go again.
Pros: -Solid beer selection. -Variety of tasty cocktails - the full bar is great. -The Giant Pretzel (although $16..) and Smash Burger were good. -Interior is modern and clean.
Cons: -Photos on Google show there’s happy hour (see screenshot), however, during our first visit the waiter said there isn’t happy hour. -No employees stated they are in a soft launch, which is important for customers to know beforehand. -As others have noted, the music is loud and clubby. -The food menu is average and there are small portions for the price. -Mac n Cheese was a huge disappointment. It was dry, mainly noodles and bread crumbs, and lacked flavor. -The back area next to the windows feels disjointed from the main area by the kitchen and bar. -Beer menu does not include the prices of beer. -The menu doesn’t explain what the tiered prices are for both burger options ($14 - 1 patty, $20 - 2 patties, etc.). We would not have known this if the waiter didn’t ask if we wanted a second patty on our burgers. Even after the waiter asked, they did not explain the tiered pricing.
At the end of the day, now that we know MBH is having a soft opening (learned this by reading other reviews), it was a poor soft opening. We believe MBH has potential and hope they do well...
